Is that true? I been hearing/seeing rumors that if the PPV didnt sell over a certain amount that RJJ would be fighting for free. Is there any truth in this?

Dan Rafael reported prior to the fight that this was a possibility.

Man that would suck for Roy. Not only is your career over but you made no money at all off of your last fight..

This is why fighter's need to surround themselves with good business men. This was supposed to be a 50/50 purse split. No way in hell should Roy have let GBP get the first $3.5 mill considering all the negative publicity surrounding this fight. Now Roy already has a bunch of money so it really doesn't matter in his case. However, this is exactly why so many fighters get ripped off.

I have a hard time believing Jones made NOTHING from this fight. I mean what would be his prerogative for fighting Hopkins then? Jones isn't in this business for charity.

Isnt there always a guaranteed base prize money for a PPV fight?

    Win lose or draw, guaranteed?

The money coming from gate attendance and PPV revenue will be extras, depending how well it sold, but the base prize money will always be a sure thing, right?

he had no choice but to agree to them sort of conditions? then he should of just fought someone else, or just retire, which is what i would of advised him to do. this was a fight that just had no attraction, it was a fight that was way too late in being made, and you got to have more than two legends fight eachother to attract casual fans as boxing fans weren't bothered about this fight happening now.

yep, i could of told jones he would be fighting for free if he accepted them sort of conditions. like i said that was just dumb.

I don't buy that stuff. Roy knew he had just that place to go to make some doe and if he had other places to go, he would not surely give Hopkins a chance to get the scores even in their careers... Roy sold his ass and made some moneu out of it so that he can pay for the twins and the family expenses... That's why he's fighting anyway, or isn't it?
