The sad thing about the fight is that Jones won’t make anything. Let’s assume for a second that the 6,792 in the building actually paid for their seats (we know that’s not true) and that the seats averaged $300 a ticket (a figure higher than reality). That would mean the gate was $2 million. If the expenses to rent the building and promote the fight were $1 million, that means $1 million is left. Now, let’s figure it sold 100,000 pay-per-views at $49.95 apiece. That’s about $5 million. They have to split 50 percent of that with the cable and satellite operators, so that leaves $2.498 million for themselves. Add the $1 million from the gate and the $2.498 million from the pay-per-view and you have $3.498 million in profit. Given that the contract called for the first $3.5 million in profit to go to Hopkins and Golden Boy, it’s almost certain Jones fought for nothing. Actual revenue will likely be far less than I’ve described above."

This is really sad, that all the money goes to Hopkins after that punk-ass performance he put on... I lost so much respect for Hopkins, I used to like him.

Hopkins is a total *****. Did you see Roy complain when hopkins fouled him with the low blow shot early in the fight? No ****ing way.

I hope that isn't true but to be honest he did very well in his prime earning $5 mill a fight when he didn't draw enough to earn that kind of figure.

Roy felt his fight with Hopkins was bigger then it was. The wage coming from ppv % worked for him against Trinidad due to Tito's popularity.

I'm sure Roy made something, peanuts maybe as opposed to what he's use too but he is alright he did make 3 mil off the Green fight so I don't feel too bad for him he signed the contract but Hopkins shouldn't get **** for punking out like he did ..But it is what it is ..Roy is far from broke and last I checked property taxes in Pensacola aren't too high !

Horrible news if true. Jones deserved more than Hopkins for that pathetic display he put on that night.

Now the question I have is: do you think this was something Hopkins wanted? To beat up on Roy with Roy getting absolutely zilch? Or would I be giving too much credit to Hopkins and GBP?

The PPV figures arent in are they? Why assume they'd go as low as 100k? 300-500k seem quite possible with the names involved

at least wait till the ppv number are in, to assume roy didn't make any money base on an assumption that it does 100k is really idiotic.

Lots of people invest time money and hard work and don't make a profit. Small businesses fail all the time. Roy made a deal, and it didn't pan out the way he hoped... Happens all the time. But, Roy will be okay, because he's got millions form previous ventures to fall back on.

They eventually did agree to the 60-40% winner to loser split
