Tough for Roy, but let's hope it puts fighters off trying to make these sort of total tripe fights in future - it's no good for the game.

Maybe Roy was saying he'd fight Bernard for nothing.

 

What kind of deal did he go for? First 3.5 mil go to Hopkins. How much was he actually hoping of making?

I dont think its a rumor I think its fact. And if it is true then I hope it doesnt sell enough to pay either one of them.

 

I'm sure he knew about this but just went on with it, RJJ isn't having money issues he's just doing this because he wants to.

 

Roy has been horrible to his fans. He can't seem to protect himself in or out of the ring. I'd hate to be on his train.

 

BTW... It's a shame Hopkins and Jones weren't intelligent enough to consider taking this fight abroad. They would have done excellent venue numbers in the UK or Germany among others.

 

Although I dont assume he's having money issues. I do believe that Roy realizes the object is to get PAID as a professional fighter. And I have no doubt he wouldn't intentionally fight for free.

Steve Kim said today he lost tons of money in the music business and suggested thats part of the reason Roy still fights and will continue to do so

 

I'm not convinced that he made no money. There had to be something. I'd be very surprised if this was true. Roy's been in the sport long enough to know what the **** is going on. Particularly because he seems interested in the business side of things. If it is actually true, hard to feel bad. He should know better.
