Roy Jones " Margarito had the bad handwraps against Cotto"

I agree. If Margo loaded his gloves against Mosley (who had recently lost to Cotto), then we can be sure he also loaded his gloves against Cotto (who was undefeated and favoured to beat Margarito).

 

Meaning there is no proof.

Until we know further, Margarito whipped his ass fair and square. And Roy Jones' punchdrunk, country black ass don't make it any different.

 

Could it be that he's fighting at a HIGHER weightclass against bigger opponents..Maybe just maybe he knows he can't walk right through everything at 154 like he did at 147. Remember his fight against Santos at 154??/ Santos came in at 170 and shook Margarito up...of course Margarito nearly KO Santos himself (was Tony using Plaster then?)...

So I'm sure it has something to do with fighting BIGGER opponents...ever thought of that???:roll:

Most of the responses on this thread are full of speculation. Yes, it is true that Margarito used/attempted to use loaded gloves against Shane Mosely. He got caught, was given a punishment and also has to live with the stigma of being a cheat. All that being said, there is no definitive proof that Margarito cheated against Miguel Cotto. Just because an individual cheats once it does not mean they will cheat again. Secondly, most appear to be assuming that since Margarito cheated against a less formidable fighter at the time in Mosely, he was bound to cheat against a more formidable fighter in Miguel Cotto. We aren't inside Margarito's mind, so we don't know what his logic (if there was any, something a lot of you guys seem to think was there) he used. He may not have used any, which could then explain a cheat against Mosely, but not Cotto.

I hated Margarito's actions against Mosely and I believe everything he has gotten in the way of scorn and punishment is well-deserved, but the actions in one fight should not be transferred to others unless some form of definitive proof exists

Also, if ODDS are that he was using loaded gloves PRE MOSLEY, then why is it that with as MUCH LEATHER TONY LANDED on Williams he couldn't shake PW up like Cintron or Martinez did??????:think

Bottom line is Margarito beat the living **** out of Cotto fair and square.

 

Williams is a big dude who boxed the sh*ts out of Margarito. Williams had the size and reach to stay outside of Margarito. And he did that, he used his size well in that fight, which you rarely see Williams doing. He did that, because Margarito's... power was considerable.

Margarito used plaster for a long time. Now, he can box, he's a good boxer so he may not be out of place in the current crop of top boxers. But what he has done is unexcusable.

 

Margarito connected some POWERFUL shots against PW, especially, and very consistantly after the mid rounds..He connected on PW more than Cintron and Martinez, yet those two guys stunned and hurt Williams more....

How STUPID do you think people are that YOU think a fighter can plaster their wraps for more than 30 professional fights and get AWAY with it, and in the big leagues????

 

You make some fair points, but if you're in the speculation game, would you give a guy who did what Margarito did the benefit of the doubt?

What has he done to earn that from me, you, or anyone else?

On the other hand, he did get caught cheating. So doubting his character and integrity is justified by those who do it.

That's just my opinion.

 

How many times has this been gone over!!!!! It wasnt hand wraps dipped in plasters you spastics, it's the inserts which were soaked in a plaster like substance that then become hard. Using simple logic there is nobody who would start to cheat after the biggest win of their career against a seemingly inferior opponent.

As well as this compare the face of Cotto after both the Mosley and Margarito fights. There is no comparison is there, and yet both guys landed roughly the same number of punches. There is NO doubt in my mind that Margo had cheated in previous fights.

 

The same Maragrcheato who said he didn't know what was in his gloves ?Yeah I really beleive he only did it against Mosley !
