Nah I think he has a decent chance with Demitrenko, Toney, Ruiz, Byrd, Valuev and most likely Chag as well and lets not forget about Holyfield. Pov, Haye, and the Klits would stop him.
Valuev is absolute Trash, he has been beaten numerous times only to be saved by corrupt or incompetant judges in Germany, he was out-boxxed by an old worn out Donald as well as a near 50 Holyfield, the man is terrible, as for Chag since he has gotten sick & injured he has looked like ****, he isn't the same guy that beat Ruiz and Valuev.
How Holyfield was "outboxing" anyone when he barely threw 5 punches a round is beyond me but whatever you think about Valuev or Chagaev, Jones doesn't beat them and you know that damn well. He may only be competative nowadays with guys that are as shot as him like Toney and Byrd, who are both nonentities at hw.
Sounds like a bunch of ***** ass Larry Merchants on this thread... no respect for one of the all-time greats... sure, taking on a Klitscko would seem like suicide.. but the dumbass who said no one would pay to see the event should get real.. The heavyweight division is trash and Vlad and Wladmir have become the kings of the shittiest heavyweight division of all time. They can both be had. Like Roy said, Chris Byrd beat one of them!! And as for the silliness about the poor state of Jones and his "glass" chin... well, this is based on a perfect shot from Tarver that sent Roy down until about the count of 8... and then ROy coming back too soon and not being ready to take a punch yet.... So that theory is absurd As for Jones being soooo diminished... how? He went up against the #2 pound 4 pound fighter in the world, who was younger then him.. Jones just used the wrong game plan. I'd like to see anyone divise a successful plan against a slapper, who goes for the points win every time, and never takes any risks **** ya'll RJJ haterz!
Jones is getting overly optimistic (or arrogant) again. I've said that jones looked OK vs calzaghe and he may well have recovered from the brutal KO's in 04 by tarver and johnson, but if he thinks "he's back" why not try and beat some legit 168/175 contenders then challenge for a title there. I'm not saying he could do that, but thats at least would be more realistic then trying to campaign at hw. He probably doesn't actually believe he's still got it and is trying to get a money fight at hw to go out on? Beating sheika and lacy (if he does) in no way means he's ready for HW or even titlelists in his own weight class.
Then Jones should hope for a severe shoulder injury? Also, Calzaghe showboating hands down in front of Jones looked a bit risky to me...
