Fair stoppage....If RJJ thought it was a bad call then he would have been blowing up.

A fighter on the undercard was talking to RJJ after the fight and he said RJJ was still a bit off.

was a legitimate stop imo. surely roy should be experienced by now to have seen it coming, and done something (if he was able to) in order to prevent the stoppage.

I love rjjr, hes my favourite fighter of all time, but its time for him to hang em up. It was time after his first fight with Tarver.

Yes but he was making no attempt to fight back or even get out of the way, to me he didn't even seem to want to be there after he was hurt. He should've dug deep then, he can't really complain, it wasn't the worst stoppage. He shouldn't expect special treatment from the ref.

You know it was questionable. On one hand Green threw lots of punches after the knockdown with Roy only throwing two back. On the other hand some of the punches Danny threw were good body shots and only three landed cleanly to the face or head.
I don't think the ref had anything but good intentions though because Roy had pretty much quit fighting back and he looked kind of shaky.
"No way he should have stopped it" by Roy is extreme but I can see Roy's objection that he could have let it continue.

yeah roy was really making a fight of it, he got tagged fairly, he lost, the ref made the correct call, get over it.

Roy was using the rope-a-dope, but the only dope in the end of the referee.

As long as RJJ doesn't suffer a permanent brain damage, he will keep thinking he's as great as he was 10 years ago, he will keep fighting and if he happens to win he will believe it's because he's still that great, and when he loses, he will believe it was a fluke, unfair, premature, biased, whatever excuse he might think of, just not to have to admit he's way over the hill...

Therefore I do think it was a premature stoppage - the ref should have let it go further and let RJJ suffer much more punishment, even some permanent brain damage, just to make the point more obvious that RJJ has nothing more left. Had the fight gone further and had RJJ suffered a brutal and devastating KO (destiny the ref has rescued him from) then he wouldn't be talking now it was an unfair and premature stoppage...

But on the other side, if he did suffer a brutal and devastating KO with some permanent brain damage, maybe he wouldn't be able to realize what happened anymore, and would be now laying like a plant in the bed and the nurses would be now changing his diapers for the rest of his life...

He should call himself lucky the ref has stopped the beating early enough and he should call it a day. He can't take a shot anymore, if it's not enough to show it when he goes down like a brick from one shot only (and not from Tua or his likes but from Danny Green who isn't really a big puncher) then I don't know what more is needed for RJJ to realize his time is over forever...

the rules state that a fighter must protect themself by strong defence and willing attack....

Ill admit Jones had a high guard and wasnt getting many punches through ...but he wasnt throwing anything back

if u watch the fight , Jones after the clinch before they stopped it , he goes straight back onto the ropes and lets Green wail on him again ...if Jones was ok this wouldnt have happened...

Jones is just trying to save face...i think the ref let it go on long enough ...how long do you want , and at the end of the day ..i was 50m away from the ring , and most of you are probably 50,000 miles away watching on TV , neither you or I can argue with the referee who is there on the spot

Id rather see it stopped a little early than any fighter end up permanently hurt.

Jones is friends with McClellan , you would think he would feel the same way , The fact is at his best Green wouldnt have come close to landing that punch on him , that alone should be enough.

Roy Jones was not about to get back into the fight action, not after what we saw from him in the Calzaghe fight! People don't understand but he was hit just like an amateur... Kept his left hand down and took a big knock on the temple ( doesn't matter if it was more on the back or more in the front of the head) and as a result, he was down and almost out there... Then, he went to rope a dope tactics but taking clean uppercuts and heavy shots on the gloves and head together so... There was nothing else to do, either Green would punch himself out or Jones would get stretched like in the Johnson fight, there is nothing more to it. In my opinion, Roy should just retire...
