I understand people saying Roy was covering up and not getting hit much because I was thinking the same thing when I was watching the fight, but if you look at Roy's face and body language the moment Green stops throwing punches and Roy finally puts the gloves down you can really see he was out of it. I mean maybe the ref could have let him finish the round and see how he comes out for the second but Roy Jones was hurt at the time the fight was stopped and he was in no condition to fight, just barely survive.

That's what I saw as well. He was doing a good job defending himself after the knockdown, and Green never connected with anything flush. Maybe Roy Jones would've been knocked the **** out in the next round, or maybe he would've recuperated enough to fight a safety first fight and cruise to a unanimous decision, but the point is he was denied the opportunity to see what would have happened. Premature stoppage.

What you have to consider is what the affect of a rabbit punch is. When you hit someone behind the head they can lose their vision, and be blind. The area he was hit this is probably what would happen. Sure of Green were to have kept hitting him in that area it could do permanent damage, but Jones was covering up that area well and there is no indication that Green was hurting him with those other punches.

I could be wrong, Green has a lot of power and only Jones knows how much he was hurt, but he didn't appear anything more than stunned, which can end a fight and in many cases will if the opponent jumps on the stunned fighter and throws X amount of unanswered punches. Jones simply wasn't punching back.

There is no chance of him ending up like Ali. The reason rabbit punches are banned is because they blind the opponent. The ability to see is located at the back of the head where the brain processes images. Jones was not knocked out in the traditional sense, but his lights were out for 30 seconds and that was long enough for Green to throw as many punches as he could and get the fight stopped. Roy Jones should have taken a knee.

Good point. We should let Roy decide how hurt he was, only he knows.

But he didn't look like a beaten fighter at all, he was talking immediately after the ref stopped the fight and he appeared to have his legs.

Its a legit stoppage because thats generally how TKO's work, but it's not the kinda win which looks good for Green. Green didn't really beat Roy Jones or knock him out, he won a technical decision.

They did the right thing stopping that fight. Roy's legs were gone and he was just taking punches on the ropes. NO need to wait for him to end up like Gerald McClellan.

    Bingo :good
I didn't see him protest much, if at all. & I also saw a pic of him holding up Green's hand with a look of resignation on his face.

The whole "No way they should've stopped the fight..." quote is understandable given his ego healing back up after he cleared his head & realized that the Hopkins rematch was imperiled.

If RJJ says it's too early, it's too early. At the same time you can't blame the ref if RJJ died Ref's fault.
