who on earth did he beat compared to other fighters of the past to deserve that? Hopkins, Toney, Tarver (who also beat Roy twice) and Ruiz gets you a top 10 P4P all time? atsch
You're right. I rank him high based on boxing skill/talent, not based on what he accomplished - which is NOT his fault by the way. He's top 10 talent wise but not record wise. :good
Right now, Top 50? Hes top 5 in his division but when you consider it a weak division and theres about 15 divisions, top 50 sounds about right.
He didn't fight all the best, that is common knowledge. He fought two fighters that can be argued as great, and some good secondary opposition, but also missed out on a lot of fights that could've strengthened his legacy and your argument for him, but he was too egotistical. Still, in his prime, he was as dominant and impressive as anyone, so he rates quite highly based off of that alone, with a nice resume to back it up. Definitely not top 10 though, but top 30.
Pea, I agree with you to some extent. He fought the best in his devisions. I dont think he ever avoided anyone. The problem for him was that there was some lack of talent for him to fight. He did however fight some good fighters, ATG's??? no but thats not his fault. He faught what was available for him at the time. He made most of the fighter looks silly in the ring, thats for sure
So why did he never fight his mandatory in Michael Nunn? Some of the fighters weren't as keen on facing him either, but there were definitely quite a few name fighters around the periods of his dominance that he didn't face.
