Roy Jones/Ray Leonard my ass!

Andre Ward might be more technically sound then Roy Jones but Jones was by far more talented.

 

yea that was beyond bizarre, its not a knock on ward to say he's nothing compared to those guys, its just the likes of RJJ and SRL were out of this world. ward is still a great fighter though

 

Ward could be on pace to the next Jones or Leonard ..He has a little of both of them but only a little if he continues his winning ways people will eventually compare him to the 2 it will only be a matter of time if he continues to win like this !

He has the unorthodoxy of RJJ and the comfortness and adaptability of a prime RJJ. He has the veteran dirty moves and safety first approach of a B-Hop. The kid if he keeps improving might deserve to be labeled an ATG. He is that good.

 

Was a bit much, especially the better than Roy Jones Jr. More technical, no doubt. But better? I think Bernstein my have mispoken.

 

They need to make stars for showtime.

All other sports do it, it builds interest.. but boxing fans have always been their own worst enemy.

 

Ward is a good fighter, but he couldn't carry SRL 's or RJJ's jock strap.:nono

 

I don't agree with either comparison but Ward is an excellent fighter and stands on his own as a possible ATG.

 

While it's obviously premature to make serious direct comparisons since Ward has a long way to go, I would say it is true that he shows that genuine special quality that is so rare. I won't be surprised to see Ward leave his mark on the sport. In a few year's time he'll be the pound for pound number one and hang onto it for a period of time. Again, while he does have a long way to go, I believe he has the quality to potentially some day enter the Top 50 to ever lace them up.

 

All boxers have their shares of bad boring nights, whether they were RJJ, Leonard, Ali or whoever. Ward having one right now unexpected by fans doesn't make him totally "overrated" or out of line, people here were hoping he loses and when someone is hoped to lose yet wins in a nearly boring fight it's the upset of the year for three hours. He won, if you didn't like it no worries, saying stuff as "RJJ, Leonard?, lol?, MY ASS" and so on just proves that your ass is worthless.

 

saying someone is worthless because of a simple comment on an anonymous forum just proves youre a dumbass who cant see things in proper perspective.

 

A better comparison would've been a 1990s BHOP
