Jones' pain allergies were severe. Given the oppressive heat and given Roy Jones' propensity to fight defensively first and foremost, I see this as a boring UD for a potshotting Jones who would be content to stay out of range.
Apart from the heat, Maxim himself would give Jones some problems. He was far superior to anyone RJJ ever fought at 175lbs, a tricky fighter. He doesn't beat Roy of course, but he'd make it a little difficult, might take about 3 or 4 rounds off of Jones. In this heat it's hard to say how RJJ fairs, but he wouldn't have to work as hard as Robinson did, and could go the 15 rounds IMO, taking a very clear UD, but as I said, Maxim makes it difficult at times for Jones.
2 people:huh robinson usually won the rounds too well. trying to finish his man off or slow him down...(if you can slow down maxim) jones of course never went 15 but he seems pretty fresh at the end of 12 rounder. the heat and the pressure would be the main points of interest. i defintly think maxim has not a chance of winning. a few rounds but nothign sugnificant. due to his slow moving style and stature (jones had problems against aller lankier guys). jones could pot shot and taunt all he wants, and conserve energy. throw a few shots and get out. yeah i think jones could ud him. also remember this fight in perticular robinson-maxim is a story of caution to young boxers to not shoot there bolt. if this fight didnt happen we wouldnt of seen a clear example of exhaustion to a slower weaker oponant (weaker in class and technicianship)
