I think Jones clearly won the first fight with Tarver.

    I would say

    Toney
    Hopkins
    Ruiz
    Hill
    Griffin

    the win over Tarver next.

McCallum was a good win too. I can't count Tarver I as I don't believe Roy won that fight.

:happy another poster who watched the fight instead of reading the scorecards.

It's not often we agree mate, but we certainly do here. I re-watched the fight for the first time in a long time last week, and I'm a huge Jones fan, but I had Roy a clear loser in that fight.

has there ever been a fight in Toneys career where he wasnt weight drained?

even at HW he has weight problems ffs.

No, there definitely is not. A green Hopkins who would go life and death with Segundo Mercado two years later and had not yet found the style that made him so effective at his peak does not in any way equate to a win over the p4p#2 who had amassed one of the best resumes in boxing in only 3 years from 1991-94. Toney had beaten Nunn and McCallum by then, who had Hopkins beaten? Also, Jones's performance v Toney was far better than his performance v Hopkins. For me the Toney fight was the start of absolute peak Superman. Toney may have been a bit weight-drained, but if he hadn't been it wouldn't have made any difference - and that's coming from a Toney fan. So that shouldn't take any of the shine off of one of the very best wins of the 1990s.

Do you think Roy deserved the decision first time against Tarver? I really don't.

Had it 7-5 myself but couldn't argue with 8-4 either. It was still a clear win for Jones though.

Much clearer than Calslappys so-called 'clear' win over 43 year old Hopkins anyway :deal

He got **** for that fight because it was the first time in 15 years he'd actually been in a close fight. Tarver was competitive that's all but Jones still won clearly, even though he was obviously on the slide.
