Roy Jones says Joe Calzaghe is afraid of Him; Wants Calzaghe Next

    Roy Jones Jr. is busy these days training for his upcoming fight with Tito Trinidad. The fight will take place at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008. According to quotes by Jones Jr. published by our friends at ***********.com, Jones Jr. is already thinking about his next fight, a fight with Joe Calzaghe.

    Quoted by ***********.com, Jones Jr. stated: "I like to fight the best. From what I see, they think Joe Calzaghe is really good. After Tito, my magnet is going to be putting me towards that direction.”

    Jones Jr. went on to add: “I'll go to England. They don't have to worry about where I come. They make it right and I'll go to England.”

    Jones Jr. went on to tell the site thats the scene for boxing that he scares Calzaghe, something previous opponent Winky Wright could not achieve.

    "He knows that he has to be right to fight me. Those other guys like Winky Wright didn't scare him. I scare him so he's got to be ready to fight me.”

    “He's obviously been looking for the same thing as me: a reason to get up. Someone who is a threat to him.

    “It’s going to be a big fireworks night. He's going to throw his and I'm going to throw mine and if one of them connects - something bad is going to happen.”

    this is wrong, he didnt say that Calzaghe is afraid of him, he was talking about Trinidad. not Calzaghe

    I'd still pay to see it even though I don't know if RRJ can still perform very well (We saw last week Calzaghe is still A++ for sure). RRJ been winning though and if he beats Tito in fashion maybe it can go down. At this point I say Joe makes him look pretty bad in there though.

    But as far as the fight goes, I would still pay 2 watch Rj fight Calzaghe
    He said he is willing to g2 England to fight him, which IMO I think would generate more money than A Bhop Calzaghe fight.

    I wanna see Roy fight Hopkins again. I like B Hop and all but I still think Roy would kick his ass again.

    Prime Roy Jones would beat Calzaghe, by a pretty decent margin.
    Current Roy Jones would get his ass handed to him on a plate! Roy should realy retire he was imo the best fighter of the last 20 years, but people will start to forget that if he gets brutaly KO'd again or if Calzaghe boxes his head off....:-(

    Please retire, Roy. This is nonsense. I'd be furious if Calzaghe fought Jones.

    But there's no way Roy would ever agree to terms, anyway, so it won't happen.

    Why do you think that?

    I think that Hopkins would win a UD. Roy doesnt have ether the confidence, work rate or the speed of hand or foot to beat Hopkins today.
