We have had this conversation before. Your theory that it was planned all along to make the Brook fight and have Eubank as the scapegoat, whilst plausible, doesn't make the most sense.

As I have said before, I believe Eubank was the opponent for GGG all along, but promoters aren't dumb, they will have a back up plan and this back up plan was Brook. I don't believe that the first Brook knew about it all was after Hearn's deadline had past and Eddie called him offering him the fight. Hearn would have sounded Brook, and maybe some other of his fighters, out about potentially stepping in to fight GGG as he knew making any Eubank fight is always going to be hard due to Sr and negotiations could fall apart at any minute. However, I do believe that he really wanted to make the GGG v Eubank fight and would not try to screw the Eubanks over as Eddie knows these guys bring a lot of fans and money to the table so annoying a cash cow like that would be stupid.

Eubank has changed promoters numerous times and only recently resigned with Hearn. It wouldn't do Hearn and Eubank's relationship any good if Hearn was to throw him under the bus. Hearn tried to get Eubank the big fight he has claimed for years that he wanted, but the notoriously difficult Sr (confirmed by many sources within boxing) messed it up for his son. Hearn then went with his plan B in Brook.

This scenario makes far more sense than Golovkin's people saying, "We want Brook, but it might not look too good to the fans", and then Hearn saying, "Don't worry, we'll negotiate with the Eubank's, make the negotiations impossible for them, but then flip it around making it look like it was their fault and claim we can't be bothered with their unreasonable demands anymore and make them look scared of trully fighting GGG. Then we'll claim Brook was bored playing Pokeman Go so we offered him the fight. Oh, and don't worry about me ruining my working relationship with a potentially huge UK cash cow. I hate money."

im sure jr wants a big fight ..."for years"....but hes 26 and hes still green...his resume, aside from saunders, is pretty trash...its clear he could use more time and seasoning.....and I think everyone from jr, sr to hearn know this

its not ruining a working relationship with the eubanks when they can blame sr. and hearn can still pay jr to fight some guys at home and let him build it up even more....I don't think the eubanks are really crying over this one

its easy to call sr crazy and say they turned a deal down, that brook happened to accept, than it is to explain why you targeted a welterweight after all the noise about khan/canelo....sr. might be a eccentric but I highly doubt hes looking to turn a deal down that's good enough for brook

I just want to see the fight. Brook can bang, has skills, and IS pretty much a middleweight who was boiling way down.

    Could be a FOTY candidate.

No point trying to be reason with him. He just makes things up that fits his own deluded narrative.

You did leave out 1 vital part of it which was Jesse Vargas. Even Arum has confirmed because of Brexit Hearn would have had to stump up another 600k or something along those lines and i doubt Vargas v Brook would sell big over here in comparsion to any GGG fight.

So was he going to lose both paydays because as it stood, Vargas wasnt going to come over and Eubank was making the GGG fight impossible. Brook was originally scheduled to fight in september but because of the GGG fight that was going to be pushed back until October, meaning no stadium fight, meaning less money, meaning he couldnt afford to bring vargas over.

So who else woudl step in a face GGG on 9 weeks notice? The contacts were there and all he had to do was swap Eubank jnrs name for Brooks and it was signed.

GGG will fight again before the year is out and it has to be a live MW imo

blaming "brexit" sounds like when berto, who was also a haymon fighter, blamed the earthquake in Haiti as a reason to cancel the mosley fight....so that Floyd could have shane mosley all to himself...lol

its funny...pierre garcon still played in the superbowl and he had relatives over there

we all know eubank is too green and not tested enough to face an a level fighter like golovkin....hearn knows it..jr knows it...sr knows it

"chris were gonna blame daddy here...we need an excuse to make this fight....were gonna take care of you though...ill line up some more tom dorans for you and pay you well and well build up a golovkin fight for you even more next year or the year after....im building a good relationship with loeffler....a little short term bad press but think long term...I mean look at what theyre saying about canelo...it cant get any worse"

yeah that's not plausible at all....hey im not saying it def happened...or that jacko is wrong....but what I said is plausible too

I like Roy. But, it's a bullsh!t fight. Just an easy fight for easy money. No different than Canelo vs Khan.

Ward was not a possibility. Team Lil' g ducked. No need to even mention him moving up. Like that was a barrier. Lol. The Eubanks got greedy, so it is said. OK. Fair enough. Canelo dropped the belt. OK. But, Canelo did offer the fight at 155. Team GGG refused to call his bluff. Because, they only wanted the belt anyway. "GIVE me my belt." And "give" is what Canelo did.

It is plausible, but I just don't think Sr's ego would take the deliberate hit of the bad press. It doesn't just make his son look scared of a fight with GGG, but it also sends messages to other promters and managers that the Eubank's are difficult to deal with. This could have a potentially negative impact on Jr's future career if other people within the sport think they are not worth the time and effort as they could be difficult and negotiations could stall at any moment. As boxers don't often fight the best all that often and hypothetical matches get discussed more than actual fights, perception is an important aspect of modern day boxing. Being seen as difficult, risk averse and a fighter who talks big but then runs away when **** gets real is very damaging for the Eubank brand. They have received a lot of stick from this whole fiasco. I even have friends and workmates who are casuals saying that the Eubank's are pussies. I just don't see Sr or Jr's egos willingly turning down a fight whilst knowing a WW would step in and fill the void.

This really could effect Hearn's and the notoriously flighty Eubank's relationship if they were to take part in some underhand subterfuge. Eubank has worked with Hearn before and then they parted ways and now he is back. Hearn knows he can earn good money with Eubank so it would make more sense to get Eubank the big fights he claims he wants rather than messing about in these silly games you claim.

I really do think you are underestimating the arrogance, naivety and controlling nature of the Eubank's, Sr particularly. Us Brits have seen it for nearly 30 years now.

yeah...everybody is talking bout how canelo is a pansy...but I bet cowboy stadium will be packed and his fight with smith will do good enough....and it wont hinder him on getting a fight

people insist "ward is difficult" to deal with...heard the same bout cotto....doesn't stop them from making and getting fights

im sure you are more familiar with the eubanks than I am....and im sure you have a pulse on whats going on....but I think you are overestimating the "difficult" label and how being considered a pansy for ducking one fight is really gonna derail or kill a career
