ROy jones was not invincable in his prime his initial struggle with Griffin who is a far lesser fighter then Calzaghe proves this . see how easy that is LOL. seriously though . Prime JOnes vs PRime Calzaghe would be a great fight. to be honest if it's a t 168 it's reaaly a 50/50 deal . cuz a prime JOe is fast enough to catch jones and had the power back then to drop him. really i don't know who to pick but i'll go with the proven commodity as both fought when both were past their orimes and joe won. if jones and B-hop fight agian you can bet Jones beats B-hop again by UD 115-113

You Calzaghe fans are hilarious. Joe goes life and death with guys like Robin Reid and Sakio Bika, beats a well-faded Eubank but yet against Prime Jones @ 168 (NOT LHW as this fight was), he would be victorious? Laughable. Another thing a lot of guys forget is that Roy wasn't even a natural LHW, let alone Heavy. He spent his entire campaign at 175 fighting guys naturally much larger than him -- guys like Richard Hall, Virgil Hill, Derek Harmon... I could go on an on. A prime Roy Jones @ 168 is pretty much as close to perfection as you get. Someone give me an example of a fight at supermiddle that was even close to being competitive.

 

who exactly did he fight at 168 apart from James Toney. Life and death with Reid and Bika? child please. Calzaghe seemed also to struggle/seem dis interested in certain fights. He was up for the Kessler fight-you saw what happened

Between James Toney and Thulani Malinga alone, there is more legitimacy than Calzaghe's entire reign at SMW, because they were both:

In their primes
Had beaten elite world titlists
Nevermind the rest of the solid opponents like Byrd, Sosa, Lucas, etc... that he just totally dominated.


But then, how would I expect a Carl Froch fan to understand this? Go back to counting the ghost punches that Crotchy landed in his last fight to make yourself feel better.

When do you reckon Calzaghe peaked overall as a fighter, and at what age would you say he could possible get the better of RJJ? Btw there is nothing to gain from watching their fight a year ago and use that as an argument, anyone who does that need a reality check, that was a weird fight and a sad way for Calzaghe and RJJ to say goodbye to the big show. I think that Calzaghe would be highly competitive and win his share of rounds, but ultimately RJJ would beat him to the punch and win a UD or if he gets the chance a late KO

I think its fair to say RJJ would win a decision but only an idiot would say he would KO calzaghe for sure. So many people here are telling the calzaghe fans to wake up but if you think RJJ would walk through calzaghe and blow him away then im sorry but its you that is dreaming. The fight would have gone 12 fast paced rounds with probally RJJ edging it with the more slick work. If either was to be caught with a suprise blow and KO tho it would have been jones as he has shown his chin was suceptible. Personally tho i dont think either gets KO.

 

Prime Calzaghe, would win a close decision.
