Does he realise in order to win the fight you need to actually fight back. I can understand him wanting to counter punch early on and caught Joe coming in a couple of times , and in fact put him on his ass ...but as he begun to lose the fight it was as if Roy wasnt worried about winning..more so just trying not to get too badly hurt ... It just never seemed like after say 4 Rounds that Roy even really cared about winning ...
He looked like he thought he could land another sweet punch but had to do it walking through hell. Joe was just all over him.
He doesn't have it any more against the top guys. Watch the fights before Ruiz fight, he doesn't have legs, he use to move all round the ring setting traps and taking the fighter apart. he just can't do it any more, there is the hand speed but amazing legs are gone.
Yeah true, Every year for the past 2 years i've been averaging 3000 posts, this year i have dropped off dramatically. God knows how Decebel and Amsterdam can do 3000 posts every 4 months :-(
I dont think its that at all actually he seemed as motivated as ever . . . HE was just too old and Joe proved on his game and too good
RJJ spent more of his energy posing and trying to make out Calzaghe's punches were having no effect on him...after 2 rounds he suddenly stopped wasting his energy because he needed every ounce he had to stay upright :yep
I saw someone post after Calzaghe beat Hopkins something along the lines of: "Black US boxers prefer to look good losing than to look bad winning" A tad general, but it's kind of true - RJJ was doing some cocky arrogant **** in the first 2 rounds and Calzaghe just wiped the floor with him and took the mickey out of him in a much funnier way :yep
He was doing the cocky **** cause he just floored him but once he knew he was never going to win he had to finish fight on his feet.
I like Joe but felt sick for Roy. I so wish he hadn't put himself in that position but im not surprised. Showboating doesn't suit Joe either especially against someone clearly shot. He does that **** in Roys prime it's lights out.
