He shows that in flashes, dawg. The adveristy came because the main ingredient in Roy Jones sucess is blazing speed and quickness. He can't move like used to that is why he gets hit more and subsequently got ko'd twice. I'm just saying that he still thinks he has the same talent level and he doesn't. His time is up...
ay, just letting you know i am a Roy fan myself but i do know that his best days are behind him. i wish Calzaghe had the hype he has now 10 years ago because Roy wouldve punished his ass then. i think, it would be a close fight now unfortunately.
Only reason he didn't knock out Trinidad was because he had a torn biscep muscle. Give the man credit, he's still good enough to beat alot of fighters right now. It's easy to write bull**** threads acting like you know the game but in reality, your NOT him. He's the one in there your the one JUST writing. And Bowe and Ali took alot of punishment to the head, Roy HASN'T. They've been punished over and over again, Roy HASN'T. Stop hating:-(
Your first sentence is exactly what I was talking about. Excuses. The man doesn't have it anymore. Roy Jones WAS the ****ing man. He DID destroy a lot of opponents. I just don't think he is good enough to beat any serious competition therefore he needs to give it up. And I do know the game, he comes on my ****ing television and performs right in front of my eyes so I know what the hell I'm talking about. And if you were smart you would see that I'm telling Roy to give it up before he gets to the point where he has taken a lot of shots. Don't be blind, dawg.
Excuses?atsch Did you see his torn biscep? Youtube it. That **** was so bad i'm suprised he didn't pull out of the fight with Tito. It looked gross, like if a tumer was growing from his arm. That's not even an excuse Roy WON the fight. But as far as him not knocking Tito out, youtube it and you'll see why. And how is Roy not good enough to beat any serious competition? You act as if he were so fragile and delicate. If he wasn't a real threat, why did Jermain "yes he ducked Jones Taylor" pull out for and decide to fight Tito?
Nonesense. Joe would utterly destroy Roy at this point. Prime Roy beats ANY version of Joe decisively (or anybody else at 168/175, for that matter), but that was an earlier version of Roy. He should have hung them up after Ruiz, or, at latest, after Tarver 1. He's still a top 10 lightheavy, but when you've been at the very top, so dominant for so long, just being a contender doesn't cut it. When youth leaves, it never comes back. If he doesn't get some sense of reality, this is going to end badly.
I'd agree with most of the original post. Ever since Jones got knocked out, he has seemingly been afraid to let his hands go. what's even worse is that against opponents his size, he still likes to lean against the ropes way too much as if he still has the same reflexes. this will only lead to him getting hurt if he were to fight a puncher. can roy still be competive? i say yes, but if he fights any one with any punching power, it may be dangerous for him. i truly believe he is afraid to get hit.
If Glass Jaw Roy Jones fights Calzaghe at 175 he will get knocked out. If Glen Johnson could KO Roy so will Calzaghe.
If Jones boxes more conventionally (i.e. safer) and throws enough combos, he can still be relevant. I like him walking forward and using the peek-a-boo. Stay off those damn ropes and he'll be fine.
Calzaghe slaps and Jones would own him in the middle of the ring. Plus, there is no way Jones should hop the pond to fight him in Wales or Wembly or whatever bull****. Vegas or Madison Square or nothing.
So if Buster Douglas KO'D Tyson, so can Lou Savarese seeming as he knocked Douglas out in 1 round. We all know he didn't and couldn't.
Good anwser. I also believe Jones still has something left and can be a champion once more. Guys, let's wait to see if Joe gets by Hopkins. Joe is not a powerful puncher and a fight with Jones would be great. Rumor is that Jones is going to take the winner. Either one, would be a good fight for Jones. Jones is a more careful fighter now and what of it. Camacho got cracked good from Rosario and then changed to a different style that helped him win much more fights and titles.
Glen Johnson is feather fisted. He had no problem KOing Roy. This is 2008 not 1996 and Calzaghe is not one of Glass Jaw Roy's handpicked opponents. Calzaghe KO's Roy at 175 pounds.
