What on earth is going through Roy Jones' mind? He seems absolutely determined to go out braindamaged:

Roy Jones to face Max Alexander on December 10 in Atlanta

    by Marc Abrams - 15 Rounds - 19th Oct 2011

Dan Rafael of espn.com is reporting that former pound for pound king Roy Jones Jr. will continue his now floundering career when he takes on Max Alexander on December 10th in Atlanta.

“Roy is going to do a little tuneup fight, get back in the ring and see how he feels,” said Mcgee Wright who advises Jones. “He’s been training for the fight for about six weeks already.”

“I think Roy just doesn’t want to go out on a loss,” Wright said. “He wants to see how he feels and see if he wants to go any further. With Lebedev, he was in the fight until the last 10 seconds and Lebedev is the No. 1 contender. It ain’t like Roy can’t compete.”

“We sent him to the Mayo Clinic and he got a clean bill of health,” Wright said. “Had a full physical, everything they do, and they said he was fit to fight, perfect condition. We wanted to see if he was able to fight, or if he had anything wrong with him, and they said no.”

Wright’s view of the match for Jones is simple.

“If you can’t beat him, you need to stop,” he said.

Because he's flat out broke. Note to self: if you ever get filthy rich, don't invest in rap albums.

Pretty much the same reaction as yours in the General forum.

Saw Roy's presser at the Sydney Casino just prior to him fighting Green, and he said he was very keen to complete his set of world titles. Cruiser was the only one missing in the sequence, and still is.

Sounds like this cruiserweight bout if for some fangled new 'world' title called AEU or something? Just more alphabet bloody soup.

is there any substantiated evidence that hes broke though? he could make a healthy living as a trainer, commentator etc i think its mostly the guys pride when he sees fighters that he believes he can still beat and wants to get that adrenaline rush of fighting in front of a crowd.

Probably depends just how broke he is. But it's not like he's going to be forced to sweep streets if he does retire.

It's been widely reported he owes the IRS serious money.

Serious money means keep fighting then. Very sad.

    Yeah heard the same thing.

Commentating for HBO may help a little also.

The bloke he's fighting is a stiff, although when RJJ beats him he won't retire, he'll think he can get another shot at a better opponent.

TBH i really don't care anymore what he does, he obviously won't listen to people so it's no skin off my nose.

Just makes the victories against him in the last 2yrs seem **** so Green won't be happy about that :hey.

Any wins over Roy Jones past his Tarver /Johnson losses mean nothing imo. Hear that Danny.
