I'm going to help you get to your first live fight Francis :good.

I'll be wording up the people on the door from now on to keep an eye out for a shy, nerdy guy who looks completely lost and answers to the name Francis.

They can page then page me, and I'll come and buy you a ticket, walk you in, and help you conquer your fears.

To be fair Green was a 5-1 underdog against Roy. But I see what you mean.

I don't get it...when you're in so many fights where you make millions surely someone anyone from the fighter's management would say..."Roy, pay youjr tax or you'll end up being hounded". Plus, doesn'y the tax man follow up tax as it's due rasther than wait years and years? :huh

Exactly Bollox. But it's not the first time it's happened.

Nor is it the first time it's happened to a boxer - Joe Louis was a famous victim - as was Sugar Ray Robinson.

On the local front - Paul Hogan - and his was for Millions and only recently.

Fighters should receive the nett amount from their purses. The authorities should automatically take out taxes and other expenses so they don;'t have a chance to not pay it

p.s. Hoges was simply minimising his taxes as we all should. Strop was probably doing it too :deal

Agree wholeheartedly Bollox. Boxers should be paid under the PAYE system like most other workers around the country.

The hitch to this is they are often dealing with people they aren't sure they can trust. So money in the hand is far preferable.

RJJ was self promoted most of his career. He cut deals with other promo companies to set fights up.

If RJJ had tax problems, which can happen, you would think it would be all over the media by now.

IMHO RJJ probably is doing it for money in a way, just setting up a few things. But I think the main reason is he just wants to fight, he loves the buzz it gives him and just can't walk away. What makes fighters can be their downfall in then end.

After 5 years of muckraking Hoges come up clean (or they couldn't find enough to prosecute, either way who cares?).

After all the tourism millions Hoges brought into the country through his "shrimp on the barbie" ad campaign and Crocodile Dundee he should be given a severe tax exemption and a hardy handshake annually from the government as a mark of gratitude for all he's done.
