By the time of the Tarver II fight Jones had rarely got hit, let alone been in any wars. If you are trying to say it was the aging process than you are going to have to show me a lot of fighters, who like Jones never got hit and then started to get koed. Jones's "missed" every big puncher in every division he fought in, so whose to saw that he ever had a good chin in the first place. Especially seeing as how he never fought the people who would of tested it? He was dropped by a straight left from Lou De Valle, who was never a big puncher. So I think I can safely say that he never possessed a granite chin to start with. Shame he didnt fight them Id favour Spinks, Qawi and Foster to beat him

dont matter. bottom line is jones is an all time great. every great has lost fights. it happens. but what jones did speaks for itself.

I think what he DIDN'T do speaks louder than what he did. You even had the President of HBO Sports the very network he fought on calling the guy out for not wanting to make big fights.
I think RJJ is one of the best fighters of all time, but that doesn't mean he could beat some of the proven, great LHW's. If anyone Foster had the perfect style to beat him, with a punishing jab that even cut open Ali and a powerful, fight ending right hand. Against Spinks, RJJ would enjoy the speed adv and Spinks was a complete fighter with power at LHW, but maybe RJJ by a split decision and Spinks probably knocks him out in a rematch. Not comparing Tarver to Spinks, but a prime version of RJJ might probably be a 50-50 vs Spinks or win one out of 3 because Spinks is no slouch and is considered the best or easy top 3 LHW's of all time. Difficult to see RJJ beat Larry Holmes like Spinks did. I think RJJ's best wins were at 160-168. Foster, Moore, Spinks, and the Billy Conn that was outboxing Louis could of beaten a prime Roy. Also Doug Jones was a very difficult fighter for both HW's and LHW's of any era.
Taylor beat Hopkins. Pavlik beat Taylor. Hopkins schooled Pavlik. I'm pretty sure you taking the **** anyway. Ottke would wet his pants at the thought of being in the same arena as Jones. The idea that would have had enough to beat him, is laughable.
