    He wasn't a P4P businessman.

Why on earth would Roy have been gun shy, fighting a fighter who couldn't match him for speed, who possessed a shorter reach, and who hasn't got a great defence and who marks up?

Do you think GG's 70" reach would have repeatedly landed on Roy's chin?

I'm a fan of GG's, but when I've seen Canelo, Jacobs and Brook land fast combinations on his head, I've got to think that Roy would have tagged him with absolute ease. Kell is a former WW with a 69" reach. Go and check out those early rounds. Go and watch Canelo repeatedly catch him with combinations in the centre of the ring.

Roy would had to have been made a big favourite.

This above has no relevance to the thread.

Roy had a unique skill set that was based around split second timing. He needed to either retire early, or adapt his style later on his career as he aged and slowed down. As we know, he did neither of those things and paid a heavy price. But we're not looking here at a slowed down mid 30's version of Roy fighting in his 3rd weight class. We're looking at a prime 25 year old fighting in his first weight class.

Nobody believes that a guy like Glen would have beaten Roy at his best.

Yes, GG has never been iced and he looks to have a great chin. And that deserves respect. But we don't know what would happen if he moved up in weight and fought some of the guys that Roy did.

A prime Nunn would have given Roy fits.

He hasn't assumed the match would be at 175. He's merely pointing out how you've noted Roy's losses at 175, without taking into account how GG may also have fared up at that weight.

Tarver icing Roy means nothing here.

Tarver is a big southpaw with a long reach, who beat a 35 year old version past prime version of Roy at LHW.

What we're focusing on here, is looking at a version of Roy from a decade earlier, facing a guy in GG who has no similarities to the likes of Tarver.

It would have been a completely different match up.

There are fighters that would be able to hit Jones, just not a robotic fighter like Golovkin.

Middleweights like Hopkins and Toney weren't able to land clean shots, certainly not Golovkin.
