Calzaghe almost doubled up Roy in terms of punches landed, Roy's fists had no effect on Calzaghe, Roy was busted up and every judge scored the fight 11-1. That was not a competitive fight.
Roy won 2 rounds against JC and then went into a shell. The only thing RJJ has left is hand speed. He doesn't have the footwork, upperbody movement, elusiveness, or combination punching he needs to beat a champion at this point. Roy loses to Hopkins, Calzaghe, Dawson, Tarver, Johnson, and Diaconu right now - who else matters? The only way Roy gets a win over any other top fighter at this point is if they freeze up when they realize they are in the ring with a legend (see Prince Badi Ajamu)
Dawson by wide UD. And yes, the Calzaghe fight wasn't very competitive man. If the 11-1 socrecards bother you, make it 10-2, even 9-3. But even 9-3 isn't competitive... Hell, it's sad for Roy Jones to win just three rounds in a fight. Forget about it, the man should retire and do whatever he wants.
you see it as a vert close fight but you're the only one to vote for Roy!:huh Some thoughts should be kept inside
Why? Why would I vote for dawson just so I could fit in with the public even when the public is wrong? If you think Dawson would be more than a 2-1 favorite vs Jones, then I think you weren't analyzing those first 7 rounds of Jones-Calzaghe properly. If Jones comes into shape mentally and physically for dawson, I honestly believe it's a tossup fight. I'm not gonna spit out bull**** that Calzaghe won 11 rounds vs Roy clearly cuz that is not true at all. And if the roy that came to fight calzaghe in rounds 1,2,5,6,7,8 comes to fight Dawson, Dawson would be in for a tough fight.
No. I wanna be honest. I don't wanna comply for the sake of complying which is what I believe a lot of people on this board have been doing in regards to their thoughts about Roy Jones and their thoughts about last Saturday's fight.
People do conform way too much here. I support this philosophy. I think that Jones was essentially manhandled and toyed with from the 3rd onward, but I slept off the details. I'll say that in my gathered opinion; soxfan57 is good at scoring fights. Jones could have won these rounds, but Calzaghe's generalship is all I can personally remember.
I give RJ a puncher's chance in this one. Of course, i would CLEARLY favor and expect Dawson to win, possibly by stoppage, but RJ still has the hand speed and power to possibly catch Dawson coming in. And Dawson's chin isn't granite. Calzaghe just has incredible reflexes and the foot speed to react to shots. Dawson isn't up to par in that department. And Dawson is a guy known for coming in without caution at times.
Honestly man, Roy is shot. I had picked Calzaghe by UD before the fight and I would pick Dawson by UD if he fought Roy. Roy is not "done" (in the sense he would have a decent chance against SOME of the top 10 LWs), but he wouldn't have a real chance vs a young, skilled, fast and busy fighter like Dawson, just because you think he had some close rounds with Calzaghe. I respect your opinion, but you're in the wrong here.
Bro. Are you dumb? I never said anything like that. I could give a **** if my opinions are different than yours. But unlike yourself and a lot of posters, I won't base my opinions on conformity. I base my opinions on my eyes and how I feel regardless of how others may think of what I think.
Yep, I've seen most if his "scoring threads", he is decent. I just think that even if Roy had some competitive rounds that might have went to him as the thread-starter suggests, (I honestly haven't watched the whole Calzaghe fight yet), that's not an indication he would have a good chance vs a guy like Dawson at this stage, for me at least.
