James knocks him out.Just as Tarver and Johnson did.At heavyweight Jones was not very mobile.Toney would show much less respect than Ruiz and get to him.Between 160-175, i favour Jones to beat even an in shape Toney though.

The version that fought Ruiz wins a wide UD against Toney. Weight drained Jones was ruined. Yes Jones was less mobile, but he was a hell of allot more mobile and way faster than Toney

Toney beat Ruiz too and was not even in shape. If we are talking the Toney version from Holyfield, I am sure James Toney knocks him out. Roy is not a heavyweight, he fought a tentative Ruiz. Roy does not have the mobility or chin to do well at heavyweight. I also do not agree that Roy was weight drained in the Tarver II and Johnson fights. He looked strong and well conditioned.

This ones been done a fair few times. The consensus was that RJJ’s style is all wrong for Toney and I fully back that view.

There was also a consensus Roy would beat Tarver and Johnson.

The closest version to a prime Jones did beat Tarver.

Jones probably wins, but if James can find his chin? I have no doubt he can stop Roy.

Stylistically how do you expect Toney to approach the fight? He’s not all of a sudden going to turn into a swarmed. He was way to stubborn and believed in his own boxing abilities far too much to change his style that dramatically

Jones would pile up points early by waiting or creating openings on the outside with feints, get in and out before Toney could catch him with anything meaningful.

The speed difference was too much for Toney in their original bout, Toney looked nothing more than a plodder next to Jones, but it wasn’t just the speed. Jones was also technically very good and an intelligent fighter, which is why Jones didn’t let Toney neutralise his speed. All round it’s just a terrible match up for Toney

I don’t believe for a second that Toney is going to realise his best chance is to press with immense pressure early from the bell and even if he did, that’s not the craft he mastered.

I find it mesmerising that anyone can back Toney here. Maybe his chances are a little bit better than at middleweight, but he has little more than a punchers chance.

I think that the mistake you are making is picturing their first fight. This one would be 10 years and 40 pounds later with a Toney that is not weight drained. Again, Jones at heavyweight is not very mobile, just as we saw against Ruiz.

I see Toney putting on the pressure over the course of the fight and landing body shots. Jones will be less and less mobile as the fight progresses, retreating at times to the ropes to cover up. Jones reflexes are not exactly what they were and Toney while maybe still behind on points lands his right hand flush. End of the night.

Jones ain't shot Holyfield who had trouble getting his punches off he's not going to stand toe to toe with Toney. He's going to use his speed to get decision.

That Holyfield would have knocked Jones out too. Roy does to have the chin, mobility or reflexes of younger years to do well at heavyweight. Roy beat Ruiz who fought terrible fight while showing way too much respect.

The Holyfield that had trouble with Ruiz who Jones easily out boxed. Holyfield couldn't beat Donald or Byrd and Jones is faster than both Donald or Byrd.
