This would be a very close fight. Mike is well equipped to face Roy Jones, with his jab, body work and defence. If you look at how Griffin was able to drive Jones back to the ropes, and score with body shots then punches upstairs, I think Mike will win rounds, and unlike Griffin he can weather the storm when Jones goes on the offensive

Roy Jones by controversial split decision in a fight that could have gone either way.

Very close fight but I think roy jones would steal close rounds just through his classier work. Be great to watch though. Roy Jones by UD

This would be very close. I'd make Jones a favourite but in a realistic career series Mike would probably take the first fight and lose and subsequent fights.

Watched the Hopkins fight again, and while it's a clear points win for Jones (3-4 pts at least) many of the rounds are close. The McCallum that beat Watson was better than the Hopkins who lost to Jones IMO. Even though I think Hopkins fought a good fight all in all, Mike's pressure would be more educated and effective, and his jabs would cause Jones more trouble. He was also a technically superior fighter to Hopkins. Wouldn't come in with his head that low for one thing.

Previously I've seen this as a pretty easy win for Jones, but rewatching his fight against Hopkins I think he really has to dig deep to get this one. My money is on him, though. Already a very smart figter, and that speed...

Wide RJJ decision, McCallum is slower than Hopkins/Toney, better in some ways but slower against the fastest MW of all time, no chance. Watch Kalambay-McCallum and tell me he's going to make it close

Now Kalambay may give Jones issues, not McCallum, with all due respect to him, he's great, he'd have beat any of the Fab4 but this is a bridge too far for him

At middleweight, with the exception of Hagler i'm not sure that there its anything controversial with that statement.

:deal it's quite simple really, although Hagler would give him the toughest fight.

Mcallum did most of his best work on the inside. Is he going to be able to get to Jones body enough to make an impact? No way, plus he was never a speed demon. Jones beats him easy by UD as he did, if he is the experienced title holding version of himself. I dont take much from the Hopkins fight, Roy was not at his best when he faced Hopkins. Its funny how people say Hopkins was really green when he faced Jones but dont say the same for Jones who got better after facing Hopkins and learned alot from that fight himself. Lets say the Jones who faced Thomas Tate.

Its worth mentioning that I do believe Roy took it easy on McCallum when they did meet head to head at 175, and I don't think Roy possibly kayoing McCallum in their fight was out of reach, Roy liked him as a person......But I do believe Roy would step on the gas against a prime Mike at 160 and would put his personal feelings aside to make sure he got the win.
