Roy's style is all wrong for this. You need to rough up Tyson. Jones wasn't strong enough to do that. Jones would try to play cat and mouse, but Tyson would catch him and knock him out.
Not sure about this one to be honest. Jones had the speed but not the chin....Tyson had lost the speed but still had the chin. Put it this way, if an absolute bum like Danny Williams could clown old Tyson then I'm sure Roy could, but I'm equally sure an old Tyson could KO Roy too. Pick em fight. Of course Danny Willliams became elevated from bum level as soon as VITLAY beat him, despite the fact he took longer to do it than Sanil Sam did, or even Audley :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Hence the ******ed chin checkers stance in this thread. It's still amusing to me that Danny is still in the top 5 wins for that ****ing bum VITLAY just because he beat the shell of Tyson.
Jones wanted to fight Tyson but Tyson's camp wasn't interested. That's why he went back down to LHW because there was really nothing left for Jones to do at HW.
Jones would have likely beat Tyson by fairly wide UD. Tyson at most would have won the first 3 rounds. By that time Tyson was a shell of his former self and made all sorts of technical mistakes in there. He lunged with punches, was flat footed, just very diminished and plodding. At heavyweight, the Jones that fought Ruiz had only one loss by dq and he had his confidence and stregnth in tact. Roy would have fought a very disciplined fight and used his speed and jab to outpoint Tyson who by 2003 was a lot slower and threw one predictable punch at a time. The two misconceptions would be that Roys chin couldnt take any of Tysons punches and that somehow in 2003 Tyson was still a wrecking ball. Neither is true. Roys chin was only helped by the added weight if anything and his confidence helped his ability to take a punch, and Tyson was only dangerous if you were a B- C+ fighter at that point, or if you were elite and chose to stand and trade with him. Something Roy and no elite heavyweight would elect to do.
That's what Roy said after the 1st Tarver fight too.. too bad he didn't follow his first instinct and accepted he was not the same.
If Tyson lands anything on Jones, I think he would knock him out...therefore I think even this version of Mike would win against Jones.
i'd say tyson beats him & does it early tbh. rjj could never live with that power no matter how faded tyson was. i heard the exact opposite. the way i heard it rjj priced himself out of the fight by asking for silly money.
