The thing is Roy has NOTHING that would keep Tyson off of him. Sure Roy could move but I saw enough in RD1 of Lewis - Tyson to know even a faded Tyson could still cut the ring off. Tyson ko1
danny sheridan listed jones as a 2 to 1 favorite vs tyson after the ruiz fight. tyson didn't train like he should have in this part of his career. jones wins a wide dec or tyson quits on his stool.
One dimensional Tyson would be made a fool of by a prime Jones. Not only would he lose every round he would without a doubt do what he always did when frustrated, he would quit.
Roy has a good chance but even a faded Tyson was still dangerous and hit hard. One shot to the jaw, Roy is probably seeing stars..
I highly doubt Jones would get through the whole 12 rounds without tyson catching him. Tyson by knockout.
exactly what i was thinking if lewis couldn't do it in the first round roy has no chance. Roy couldn't take the kind of punishment tyson could give. I see the fight ending in a pretty brutal first round knock out :bbb
the first body shot mike would land , be it torso , hip ,arm etc - Roy would think the sky fell in - any full force punch that lands on top or side of the head ( forget about on the button ) sends Roy to hospital with serious concussion / head truama.
This ! Folks seriously think roys lead left hook would back up an oncoming Tyson - peek a boo guard , with the head movement ? MIke would swallow up Roy like he was a beauty pageant contestant.
I can see that people are letting the current situation of RJ affect their thinking. This is the Jones that still had amazing reflexes and never lost a fight. He would clown with Tyson. Tyson would be way too slow to catch him with anything. I can see Jones actually stunning Tyson multiple times by timing him coming in wildly. Jones would keep the fight at a distance. Jones UD.
And IIRC, Jones wanted the fight with Tyson but Tyson didn't want it. That's why he moved back down to LHW.
There was a reason why Roy was so keen on securing that fight. He'd seen enough of Tyson to know that he was a dejected man, and a shadow of his former self. I'm pretty sure he would have applied a hit-and-move strategy, with the aim of evading Tyson's aggression early on. And he would have been successful at it, too.
Tyson took bombs (including well timed counters) off a solid 250lb man who's one of the hardest hitting HWs of all time. What would 190lb Roys counters do exactly?
