King had also tried to get Jones from Levin a couple of years prior to this time, by playing the black brotherhood card. He also tried it with Toney and Kallen, but Toney told him to f*** off.

Jones career was greatly affected by his HBO contract, if he was getting paid 1.5m+ to fight postmen (Thornton), a cop(Frazier), then how much would he expect to fight a dangerous opponent. the chances are it would of been a highly unrealistic amount

Yes it was a great win for McClellan, he was p*ssed that Jones ended up going to the Olympics instead of him.

Honestly, I think Benn had the right mental state and aggressiveness to beat RJJ, Been never really jabbed, everytime he threw it was a bomb, and for 12rounds, he had superb lateral movement, and even when Benn was hurt, he'd keep coming at you, i think that type of aggression would have scared the daylights out of RJJ.

RJJ as a pure boxer was better, but as a fighter, I pick Benn by KO, Gman, I really think he had it all, Jackson and Benn hit him with everything, his chin was amazing, technically he was superb, he had great speed and devastating power, i don't like him as a man, but he was an exciting boxer.

 

Jones staged war on civil servants. The fight with Benn reached the stumbling block when Benn failed to produce a valid civil servant's ID card.

Actually Jones manipulation of HBO is why they stopped doing guaranteed long term contracts with fighters. Jones took HBO hook line and sinker they thought he would eventually make a big fight but he refused to.
