Toney is my boy, but he lost those fights. Tiberi outworked Toney in that fight and that was Toney fault for walking into the ring so out of shape. McCallum won both of his fights against Toney as well, the punch stats also confirm my point. It doesnt matter anyway Jones outboxed Toney but nothing happened in that fight to make Benn fear him. Spinks feared Tyson but for a career high payday he was still willing to step in the ring and Benn was no different.

I watched it live on ITV and the interviewers started to freak out when McClellan slipped unconscious from his stool. The Showtime version I have seen but it doesn't include a postfight interview. The writer Kevin Mitchell was there and I have read his book covering what happened after the fight.

Jones couldn't command seven figure purses - his viewing numbers on HBO were abysmal.

All evidence is that, while Frank Warren and Don King were working together prior to the Mclellan fight, they made an offer to Jones for a considerable sum to fight Benn, knowing that they could generate the money from Sky TV in the UK.

Jones turned it down. Benn fought Mclellan, effectively ending his own world-level career as well as Gerald's in the process. Jones was able to avoid both.

Michael Nunn was a great fighter in his day, his fight with Toney was amazing but he made a lot of bad mistakes outside of the ring

Kevin Mitchell wrote it in the Guardian a while back. I'll see if I can find it or a scan.

Your last memory of Jones is how you remember Jones. You forget that Benn was getting his ass kicked when he fought boxers, and was only beating sluggers...

Obviously I'm not saying Ruiz is a better fighter P4P than Eubank its simply the fact he moved up to heavyweight to beat him thats impressive. Im not saying Jones has the greatest resume of opponents ever, I'm just saying its better than that ****** was suggesting.
