Interesting that he thinks he can beat em all with only speed. I think Charles would KO him, Bob Foster would as well. Him and Conn would be great because of their styles. Interesting that he recognises Tunney as great, most modern fighters would say he looks old fashioned, primitive etc.

Jones is really a decent guy...he's certainly not a racist ******* like Hopkins...and I don't like to seem like I'm always downplaying him, but there's no friggin way he would beat Foster, Charles or Tunney...just to name a few.

Jones, and his old nemesis,Bernard Hopkins are definitely modern day greats. I agree that Charles and Foster would beat him. Not sure if it would be by ko though.

I don't think Hopkins is racist. A racist wouldn't have Freddie Roach in his corner. An *******, yes he is without a doubt.

Jones may be able to beat Foster but I would have Spinks, Charles, Tunney, and maybe even Saad beating him. All would be fun to watch while they last though LHW ain't Jones' best weight class H2H.

True...and i'm reminded of that Wide World special in '76 with Ali & Cosell, when in the review of all the previous heavyweight champs, Ali praised Tunney the highest...and said that he alone looked like a "modern day fighter"....which of course, he did.

true, Ali and Tyson spoke very highly of Tunney, but then Floyd Mayweather says he thinks he would beat Sugar Ray Robinson and is better than Ali.

I like Roy Jones, he IS a nice guy. Nothing wrong with him favouring himself over other greats. He seems a bit like Ali in that when he speaks of his fighting ability he talks about his speed a lot. From the interviews etc I have heard Ali seems to speak a bit more about technical aspects of the game such as his jab and lateral movement though. Actually though, Jones' biggest attributes are easily his speed and power so at least he is being honest about what it is that would enable him to win the fight (if he could). It's funny when fighters talk about all these attributes they have which they don't actually have, but Roy does have speed to throw away, and he has power too. He'd have a good chance against any of them, but I like Spinks to beat him, and maybe Charles.

Ah, well, Jones has all the talent in the world to compete with anyone at least on even terms. No doubt about that. The problem I always have with these kind of matchups is that I can´t favour a fighter like Jones over fighters who are so much more proven and experienced at the top. Who faced and overcame like everything. Jones did not. I just take refinement and experience over talent - with the exception of big style advantages.

That´s why I think he´d lose to the like of Charles, Spinks, Moore, Tunney, Conn. His best chance IMO is foster. That´s a fight I´d slightly favour Jones due to his speed and he may land earlier and has the power to hurt and stop Foster.

It's all subjective. I too think he has a better chance of beating Foster than he does say with Spinks. It's all about that distance Jones can maintain. But you have to KNOW that Foster can send him to his maker with that power. On Conn, well he very well might be the best light heavy ever, but I just find a fight with him and Jones hard to analyse personally. As I say, I like Spinks to ko him, and a fight with Charles would be really great. Charles boxing behind his jab with a view to land heavy hooks and crosses in mid ring, circling and countering, and Jones looking to outmaneuvre Charles and pot shot with heavy lead hooks and rights. I think Charles has more but as I say, Jones has ridiculous natural attributes and you just don't know if they might get him home.

Moore has the power and the tricks that can be used as a vehicle to get them to their target (Jones' chin) but I also must keep in reserve that he is beatable and Jones is simply a h2h great and therefore has just as good a chance to win.
