    Was sick.:yep

First time that I watched it formally on the TV, Ruiz a limited opponent, but a HW and Roy was very entertaining and on form here. I scored it 11 rounds to 1 for Roy Jones, where did that one judge get 116-112 for?

I wish Jones would have just stayed at the Cruiser level and knocked off Mormeck, or was it Braithwaite then?

What a tragedy coming down and losing to a guy like Tarver after throughly embarassing a Heavyweight.

On second opinion though, we have Roy partially to blame for Tarver being in the spotlight and holding the division hostage for 2 years.:yep

Anything a supernatural does is underrated, people don't like these types generally and Roy was a god among mice in many of these match making situations.

I don't personally see though how he gets little credit for this and people try to act like Hopkins' resume is superior to Roy's.

Watching it now. Still think Nady was a bit too active.

Roy doesn't get a lot of credit for it. Ruiz quite possibly has one of the best resumes in the buisness.

Beat Holyfield, Kirk Johnson, Quendo, Golota, Rahman, had a close fight with the Giant Valuev, and one card of the SD against Chagaev

I've never actually seen this fight. Just small clips. How entertaining is it? It's a little hard for me to focus on a fight after I know the outcome. I don't have On Demand, but I want to know if it's worth watching when it comes on Friday night.

I'm definately watching Trinidad vs Vargas on friday night. That fight was sick.

Well, it was entertaining at the time because of the drama surrounding it. It's not an action fight by any means. You can however see the last bit of Jones before his decline went full throttle because of the drop in weight. (Watch a fight from 1999 then a fight in 2001, and you will see the decline had started then). More for Jones fans I'd say.

It was pot shotting all night. a good performance. The highlight was the first, 4th and one of the later rounds.

In the first, they kind of traded punches. Jones took a good right hand and was stunned for a blink of an eye and came back and delievered his own punches.

In the 4th round like Mackie (his trainer) predicted, Ruiz would make a mistake and Roy Jones would have one chance to capitilize which he did with a straight right hand to the top of Ruiz head which stunned him and had him skipped on his feet for a second.

In the later rounds there was a round where Roy was landing at will and toying with Ruiz. Other then that, potshotting more of the night.

I rewatched Trinidad/Vargas and Jones/Ruiz last night on OnDemand.

It was a great performance and even though Ruiz is limited and definitely not one of the better title holders we've seen, for Roy (who started at 154) to beat him as convincingly and impressively as he did was a sight to behold. Truly one of a kind. There will NEVER be another Roy Jones in my lifetime.

yeah, that's what I was getting at. I dont know if I want to see 12 rounds of Jones potshotting Ruiz. If it was a Calzaghe vs Lacy type shutout, I'd watch it....but if its kinda like what Mayweather did to Baldomir, I think I'll pass. I already know what happens.

Jones hits Ruiz with a right hand in the 4th that would have destroyed a LHW or under. Not hurt, but crushed a LHW. Ruiz's whole body buckled and he came forward and stumbled into a hold.

Near the end of the 4th round, look away from your screen, and listen for it. That's how hard it is.

Not like that. Mayweather did get on his bike at the end of that fight. Jones never does. He stands in front of Ruiz and boxes him. That's what is so impressive.

Do people think he would have stood a chance against Lennox Lewis? I know it sounds ridiculous but there was talk of the fight happening.

No, Lewis was far too powerful and skilled. People undervalue Ruiz, who was not overly skilled, but good at what HE did. Jones could handle that style. Lewis jab would have been then beginning of the end of Jones and even a blocked overhand right would hurt.

For the record, Lewis admitted that Jones offered him a fight and Lewis declined sighting that he was unsure of his plans for the future. People often sight that Jones took the easy road with Ruiz, but he did have at least some intention of seeing what could come of a fight with Lewis and himself. But Jones knew he couldn't beat the big HW's, and only contemplated Lewis because of his status as THE Heavyweight champion. He declined fights with the other big HW's. He was going to lose regardless....

Yeah, I watched it last night too. Probably will again tonight!! It was an awesome performance and it really makes me miss big George Foreman as a third in the commentating crew.

Oh, please. Against Holyfield and Johnson he faked "low blows" to avoid getting counted out, get point deductions, and against Johnson, a shameful "victory." Against Oquendo, and Rahman he held excessively. And against Golota he was dropped twice, had another point deduction and somehow got an outrageous gift decision (thanks, Don King).

Forced to fight WITHIN the rules (no Don King to grease the wheels), he lost to Valuev and Chagaev.

Ruiz is a fraud and joke - and in his shameful, and REPEATED faking of low blows and violations of the basic rules against excessive holding, a DISGRACE to the sport of boxing!:yep
