How would a HW Roy have done against Briggs?

Briggs by TKO...this fight would be seriously dangerous for Roy IMO...

briggs?? seriously?? the guy who has severe asthma and throws 15 punches a round. jones, decision, easily. i wouldn't pick briggs vs ruiz. i don't think jones has won a fantasy matchup on the classic boards in years. some of you may need to study up on him. :p

respect your knowledge on here vic but couldn't disagree with you more.

Now this is a fascinating match. Mostly because it depends almost entirely on what you think of RJ...

Briggs would be like an asthmatic stature allright, but he would also have an immeasureable edge in strength and body mass and would be able to hurt Jones by just mauling him on the ropes....on the other hand I think Jr would have a great chance of winning on sheer speed.

If Jones fought scared it would help him.

Which Briggs are we talking about?

The one that won a belt? He'd sleepwalk his way through 12 rounds of mind-numbingly dull action and lose a decision.

The one that won the lineal championship? He could KO Jones. Then again, the Briggs that Lewis fought was the only "good" version of him I saw. That's not necessarily going to apply in every match.

the one that "won" the lineal title got the hell beat out of him by foreman and got a gift decision. the one that fought lewis would have the best chance imo.

One thing that makes him a danger to Jones is that despite his crappy stamina and clumsiness, he actually has pretty fast hands and can throw some pretty hard counters while moving back (as strange as it sounds he really can). I can easily see an over confident Jones moving in on Briggs and getting caught. Plus the fact that the size advantage is really too much to overlook when you compare the two.

Well, my opinion on Briggs is that he was really powerful, I´m not one of those who think Roy had a glass jaw...but with Briggs I think Roy would need more than an okay chin and his great speed and skills advantage.....one or two punches would land eventually and I honestly think Briggs could stop Roy landing one or two punches.....I always considered Briggs a big puncher.....

I see no reason to favour Shannon here. He wasn't even that big a puncher - who did he ever knock out?

Jones wins a hugely wide decision here probably a shut out in all likelihood.

I'm not even sure Shannon has a single decent victory on his resume aside from his last minute stoppage of lyak.

Briggs lands a flush punch he wins and Briggs is a massive puncher but lacks stamina. Otherwise he gets outboxed. Jones maybe able to hurt Briggs and get his respect, then box to a decision

i used to have respect for briggs' talent, still do i guess. but his prime lasted exactly one fight in which he was blasted out in the 5th round anyway.

quality over size. i'll assume the "cannon" doesn't land and jones' straight rights do...again and again for a UD. briggs would stop throwing past the 6th and basically stand there like a ****ing idiot waiting for an opportunity that won't come

what a post , u know everything about boxing .

    what a faking moron .

seemingly it isn't needless 2 state : Briggs by Xtremely easy KO after not getting hit even once , regardless of d stage of d "fight" he catches Jones at .
Most probably as soon as d 1st rd .
