Roy Jones Jr is one of the saddest stories in Boxing at the moment. Just retire Roy FFS.

He really needs to retire. But if he intends to stay then at least tighten up that defence of his!!!! He is getting KO'd far too easily by far from great fighters!

yeah, he just needs to retire, but imo, i understand what he's feeling he needs to do...

its not about the money, its about closing his legacy in a positive light.
He dont want to retire into obscurity, but with a title belt in hand. This is how a true champion closes his legacy. Lucky, he's picking a weaker division, but im not sure if he's got anything left to even claim a belt there...

THIS.... is what he's trying to erase by winning a title belt...

He's still fighting like he's got cat like reflexes. He needs to adapt to being slower but seems he's not capable of doing so.

Tell me about it. He is one of my all-time favourite fighters and his boxing style was amazing to watch. But seeing that shell of a fighter trying to fight the same way he used to is tragic to see. Does he not get any advice or something?!

Maybe his ego is making him believe he's still fast, I don't know just guessing.

yeah.... classic athlete depending on his athleticism to win fights, not technique.

Exact same reason why Bernard Hopkins still can shine and RJJ cant...

Athleticism goes away in time - technique doesnt

No. At this stage there is no public interest and thus no money in a Toney-Jones fight.Roy would need to have a couple of decent performances first.

If he wins, Toney will probably fight the Tarver's, Hopkins and Povetkins.

He doesn't fighht like he used to. He uses a high high guard now. The problem is that his legs are gone, he's gun shy, and his punch resistance is shot.

Roy's love for belts is what led him to both fight a shitload of mandatories or risk losing his precious belts and to make the dumbest mistake in boxing history by moving back down to 175 after the Ruiz fight to face a guy who at the time was a no namer for a couple belts that he had already won and defended umpteen ****ing times! I swear I never heard of a heterosexual dude that loves belts as much as Roy. Hey Roy, go to Macy's and buy some goddamn belts it's a lot safer.
