his opponents should be tested for PEDS..

Floyd doesn't want people to die in the ring.

I'm convince that he can't let go of the ego. At one time he was the p4p king. He had it all. For decades he lived like that.

He just can't live without being in the lime light. Imaging having boxing in your life since you were 10 years old or whenever he started. All of the sudden that is now gone. No longer a part of his life.

That's why you open a gym and start sharing you knowledge to youths. He's killing himself right now, it's sad to see a once great warrior being dismantled by nobodies

Opening a gym doesn't get you the glitz and attention he is use to getting. He wants it both, boxing and the prestige of being a champ. Had it just been boxing I think he would have gone the way of a trainer or a gym to help kids. Him continuing tells me he still trying to prove he's a name in boxing. He can make money as a commentator so I don't think money is that big of an issue. It is the fame of being a champ.

Ironically, Jones was one of the very few fighters that when in his prime, often talked about not wanting to overstay his welcome.

Having seen what happened to Gerald Mclellan, he was worried that the same could happen to him.

Imo the McClellan tragedy played into Jones gameplans and strategy during fights.

Its a sad situation now. In his prime he passed on the matchups that would have made him the most money.

He must be in need of money if he's still going at it today.
    Sad, sad situation.

He's never going to be champ again and never should fight again, commissions that clear him to fight should be shut down, same goes for Holyfield.

Sadly I believe its more than just the limelight that has him still fighting.

C'mon, after getting KTFO unconcious, Jones still said he may still continue?:patsch

It is sad..and what is sadder is even if he does retire right now, hes not out of the woods yet because all the damage he has taken may not start to show till years after hes retired. Like I said in another thread, something has been off about him since Tarver knocked him out at 35 years old. sadly, he has taken a lot of punishment in recent years when after 50 something fights most guys would have been long retired. he shouldnt even be sparring.

He's in hock up to his eyeballs, owes the IRS, who knows who else - THAT'S why he's fighting.

Apparently he lost tens of millions in the rap industry.
Read that in Ring magazine 2-3 years ago.

Former heavyweight champ Roy Jones Jr. is the latest boxer to take a pounding from the IRS. After it was recently revealed that Floyd Mayweather Jr. was hit with a past due tax bill of nearly $3.4 million, former four division champion Roy Jones Jr. has been hit with an even bigger bill for $3.5 million dollars. Robert Snell of The Detroit News reports that the IRS filed a $629,085 lien against Jones on March 21 with the Santa Rosa County Clerk in Florida. Those taxes are owed from 2009, but there is also another lien, which was filed on February 11, 2008 for $2,946,650 in Santa Rosa County. That bill is for Jones' earnings in 2003 and 2004. Jones returns on May 22 in Moscow against dangerous cruiserweight Denis Lebedev.

All the talk of Roy needing to fight to pay the IRS is bull****. First off, he doesnt owe 3.5 million. Thats poor reporting, dont believe everything you read. Who the f@ck is Robert Snell of the Detroit news. Secondly, Roy made 500,000 for his fight with Lebedev. He could have made more doing tv appearances or writing a damn book. He doesnt NEED to fight. Hes not broke. He could have called Bernards fight on HBO and made more. Hell, he could have probably got the fight with Dawson instead of Diaconu for more than 500k.
