Roy Jones in his prime never came close to losing and he has beat HOF fighters like they were bums.

P4P he may be the greatest to lace them up if your looking at his intangibles ..But his greatness may fall short becuase of the opponenets he had to choose from ...All the guys that rank ahead of him all tim had the luxary of much deeper divisions and better opponents ..But thats not Roy's fault for about 15yrs no one came close to touching him ..So his case is strong !

My list is based on a combination of resume/accomplishments and dominance/in ring performance for their time period. Head to head skills have hardly a thing to do with it when concerning fighters of entirely different eras(such as in the case of guys like Walcott and Fitzsimmons in comparison to Jones and Whitaker).

With guys like Gavilan and Ortiz above Hopkins and Toney, it has to do with their resumes far outdoing those two, and to do with both being better than a guy like Toney in terms of skills as well. You could argue that Hopkins is up there in that aspect.

You know not what you speak of. If you really knew boxing you would know this was the response Ali gave in an interview to Cosell. What's Ray got to do with this?

hey im taking nothing away from him but a fighters career is not based on when hes at his best it goes from the start to the finish, and to be honest i think he really only beat toney prime4prime i mean when he beat hopkins no one could predict how much better hopkins would be

And you ridicule me for singing the praises of Norris and Hector Camacho. Roy was unbeaten in 15 years in the sport with 6 p4p titles and four world championships. No one can match that resume.

Yes but when you look at the kind of careers that Jones 'victims' had after he'd easily beaten them that also elevates him, surely? Hopkins, Toney, and to a lesser extent fighters like Gonzales/Woods etc etc etc. He also beat guys who had solid careers before they faced him like Hill, McCallum too. I wouldn't make the guy the best ever, but he's the best fighter I've seen in my lifetime for sure.

I agree. Why wait for a guy who cant perform anymore? No one judges Ali because he couldnt beat Holmes, Norton, or Jimmy Young. No one judges Robinson off what he did from 1960 thru 1965.

You won't get a disagremment from me ..Hopkins and Toney were much better figherts after Jones same with Woods etc ..It says alllot about a fighter who can make you better after losing to him ..

    6 P4P titles?:blood

4 world championships? There have been fighters who have won 5, and two fighters who have won 3 simultaneously(one of which who should've won 4 of the orignaly 8 simultaneously). Impressive feat for sure, but not enough to make him a top 10 ATG alone, considering his quality of opposition was nowhere near as good as many others.

On the basis of fighters beaten, there are too many fighters to name with better resumes than Roy. He ranks as high as I have him because of his skills and dominance.
