Because I'm an obsessive Jones Jr. fan, heartbroken by the loss, i have watched the youtube click 50 times. I implore doubters to watch the clip and freeze it when Danny Green's punch lands.

I didn't realize it at first, but Green lands an unintentional illegal rabbit punch to the back of Roy's head!! I'm dead serious. Someone brought it to my attention and it's true.

Im not being a bad sport, but come on! It's plan as day. All I want is for Roy to get a rematch, so we can see the fight the way it should've of went.

It doesnt matter his punch resistance is gone and his legs are shot, it shouldnt have put him on ***** street, Roy needs to retire for his own good, hes shot to pieces

Punch lands behind the ear, not on the back of the head. It would have caught him on the jaw if Roy hadn't turned away from the punch. No rematch necessary, Roy lost, lost badly, and needs to hang them up (which has been true for a long time).

what do you mean it shouldn't have put him out. You get blasted in the back of the head like that...near the spin! Come on man. Stop hatin' for a second and just see for yourself. If you get hit there like that you are going down and out. The fact Roy got up and was easily able to defend himself dispite Green holding Roy's head down to try to get a clean punch is evidence enough.

I'm not saying take the victory, but it shouldn't effect the Hopkins rematch.

    "BEHIND THE EAR"

exactly! back of the head. I'm not saying it was intentional, I'm just saying its not like he got hit flush in the face. Getting hit back there had him messed up, but he was blocking just about every shot, and once his head cleared he would've been able to compete.

A legend like Roy Jones Jr. deserves the benefit of the doubt against anyone, especially someone like Danny Green who was lucky Roy gave him the opportunity to fight him in his homeland.

Yes I'm hating when RJJ is my fave fighter of all time

No a shot behind the ear shouldnt put you out on your feet despite it being 1 of those places, Roy just has ZERO punch resistance left.

Interesting how he was easily defending himself against every shot Green through "while out on his feet".... I don't know man.. I wouldn't be able to keep my damn arms up let alone pick off a strong fighter's shots while asleep on my feet.

I'll tell you what.. step in the ring with a strong puncher, let him hit you clean in the back of the head (catching some of your kneck) and lets see if you're stills standing, let alone jumping right back up and taking the mandatory 8 count

this has been over a lot, my take on it is, its a fight..... green was going for the kill, and threw a right hand, roy turned his head and it turned into a rabbit punch. In fact, unless your fighting sam peter, most of the guys that get hit with rabbit punches is because they turn their head or bend down.... ay, its part of the sport. Rabbit punches happen in just about every fight, its just going to happen in boxing..... if Roy hadnt turned his head so much, it wouldnt have been like that. Green is just doing what he should be. Good KO IMO..... roy should retire.

    kirk:

You make a good point. Like I said, it wasn't intentional.. The only thing I'm trying to prove is that it was more or less a freak thing. Danny won fair and square, but my point is that the fight didn't prove that Roy is washed up and can't hang with even C-level fighters... If Green systematically broke him down and knocked him out....or caught him clean on the chin and knocked him out..ok..

but he got it in the back of the head. jumped right back up... tried to cover up to survive the round til his head cleared up, was clearly blocking the punches and the ref made a judgement call..... I don't think it should destroy the hopkins fight.

But then again critics and haterz know so much more than actual fighters like Hopkins who watched the replay and gave his opinion

Your final sentence should have been:

"Roy really needss to learn to NOT TURN AWAY from a punch."

Then, maybe he doesn't get it behind his ear???:think

    Common sense...use it!

Im a huge rjj fan but theres always a time when a fighter has to hang them up. At this point in time sadly its roys time to do just that.
