It did look like it was the back of the head but i dont think it matters too much. He should have packed it in years ago, why keep going now?
It was not an illegal blow because jones turned is head and took the punch behind the ear. If he did not have turned is head it would have landed on the top of the skull. But he turned is head, he knows it. It would have been illegal if Green intentionnally hit behind the ear with Roy not turning his head. I admire roy jones but I have to admit this fact.
It's one thing to be a loyal fan, but being delusional is a whole different matter. If you really love the man you'd want him to retire. Roy has had the gloves on since he was a child, and the glory days are over.Don't forget him stiff and twitching after the Tarver and Johnson ko's.You think he's not going to be affected physically by that in the years to come? You can't bring back what he used to have. Sometimes I think fans live vicariously through their favorite fighters. This seems true of many of Roys fan and Floyds too. Some folks love the nasty arrogence that the two juniors have. Of course being seemingly unbeatable , theirs is a easy band wagon to climb on.When they lose, the fans are in disbelief, and the same delusions that allow them to identify with the fighters also allow them to make ridiculous excuses for their hero losing too. Roy had incredible talents, and he's a unique guy you'll only see once in a lifetime . But it's over , especially if a very ordinary guy like Green can take him out.
yeah it was behind the head no doubt, I saw it the first time I watched the replay and I said it on another forum but Green did what he had to do. Strange fight because I believe Lacy hit harder than Green and Lacy received a beating!
It wasn't even that Jones was turned and then Green took a shot at the back of his head-thats still a foul. Danny threw a right hand right down the pipe. Pretty damn straight, not a ton of loop. Roy is 100% to blame for the right hand landing where it did. It can't be a foul if the error was caused by the victim. If he leans in with his head and gets cut or rock by a headbutt he caused, should his opponent lose a point or have his victory marred? No. Roy was a victim of a bad defensive move and it damn near sparked him. He also wasn't "picking" shot off. He had his arms up as Green fired away, managed to stagger into a clinch, and got stopped when Green started to find ways to land through Roy's cage. It was a legit loss, but Roy has little left in the way of reflexes and punch resistance. MANY a great career has ended this way. Folks should give Jones a break.
I also thought it was a rabbit punch But RJ may need 2 just hang them up. To get beat like that, is a confidence killer. And RJ is a guy that works off his confidence and the mental edge he thinks he has over a fighter, that KO killed all of that. I love RJ but it may b time to call it a career. But i do agree about the rabbit punch
Roy has been shot for a while, I knew this fight was a bad idea and could ruin the chances for hopkins II. People were overrating Roy based on his performance against Lacy but they dont understand how shot Lacy was, he was the perfect opponent to make Roy look good. Now some still want to deny the truth that Roy is shot, he should have retired a few years ago.
lacy doesnt have any power anymore, he cant connect, he cant "pull the trigger" as Roach would say, I dont know what it is but its like his reflexes are shot
Wrong. You need slo-mo, youtube don't got that. If you saw the fight on versus, you saw roy go down from a punch to the solar plexus the right hand barely connected.
