My guess is that these kids started watching boxing around 2000, and Jones was the man, and their Euro guys got no love, so they got all sad......

    :rofl

Yeah, you got it. Nothing to do with the US being a hotbed of doping culture.

I mean, the top athletes in pretty much all your sports use drugs, especially in the early 2000's - so there's the huge doping culture right across US sports, there's the fact boxing is one of the most poorly regulated sports in the world, there's Roy Jones looking like Superman, Batman and Spiderman all rolled into one and then there's him actually failing a drugs test for steroids, confirmed by the head of the Indianna Athletic Commission.

So yeah, there's all that, but obviously the only reason we talk about it is because he's not European :rofl

If he was fighting under the WBC, WBA, WBO when he got tested, then he was not a cheat.

    However, he fought under IBF.

Roy Jones said he had been taking the energy supplement Ripped Fuel (which did indeed contain a small amount of androstenedione) after his positive steroid test, but this wasn't the first excuse he used, the first being it was a nasal spray. Roy's positive test was hushed up by the IBF. He actually tested positive against Rich Hall in 2000 but the positive test was kept quiet until 2001 when Commissioner Tony Hall claimed and showed undeniable evidence of irregular testosterone levels in Mr Roy Jones, who had failed several tests before. Jones has claimed that it was supplements that caused the huge rise in his serum levels. Those claims were quashed by male hormone experts who called them farsicle.
Roy Jones was also named in the BALCO scandal (along with many pro athletes) a company who were selling performance enhancing drugs to professional athletes. Roy Jones was shown to be one of many using the drug THG which was designed not to be detected in drugs tests.
