Hopkins is a great fighter no doubt, but I think he should have retired after the Tarver fight. He's become increasingly difficult to watch over the years with all the acting and cheap tactics.

Also, the two best wins he has are against DLH and Trinidad, the former a guy who started his career at 130, was easily beaten by Sturm, had no business fighting at 160, etc, and the latter a former welterweight/natural 154. The only reason he is a star in any calculation today is because he beat DLH. After those two, his best wins are Wright (fighting 10+ pounds north of where he should) and Tarver, who was drained at the time.

The only prime great middleweight he fought in his prime was RJJ, who effectively beat him with one hand.

He had a lot of defenses against decent-good fighters and he is a H2H matchup problem for a lot of past greats with that ugly style of his, but his resume is thinner than most people will admit.

I think people have to accept, and I understand the resentment, that as long as Hopkins is still around and still relevant to the boxing public,he will be very choosy about who he's fighting. When you become the oldest champion ever and are a guaranteed first ballot HOF'r you sort of earn the right to pick the fights that are right for you.I'm not saying it's right,I just accept that it's true.

Hopkins was on his way to a loss from the looks of it, but I don't feel sorry for Dawson. Didn't he say he isn't going to give a Hopkins a rematch? If I were Hopkins I would not give Dawson a rematch based on how he conducted himself after the fight, especially if I were really injured.
