(left side of the head) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sApt_J_9crU[/ame] i think he makes an interesting point...it's not the first time it happened.. (the backsde of his head...seems to be a vulnerability)
"Weak chin" doesn't mean literlaly "weak chin". It means "weak punch resistance", vulnerable to punches associated with boxing.
:good Also when we talk about "fast hands". It is the arms, sholder, back leggs that contrubuite to the speed. The hands ate just the part that makes impact.
I don't understand how supposed boxing fans repeatedly get this wrong, honestly. I must see it once every fortnight on ESB. It's the kind of nonsense I expect a female non-fan to say.
a point to make is that generally everyone is vulnerable on the backside of our heads...THAT IS WHY THOSE PUNCHES ARE DANGEROUS AND ILLEGAL!!!
Reason they're dangerous is because the brain stem is located there and a hard enough blow can detach it causing instantaneous death.
Roy Jones was a kind of fighter who didnt need a chin to win him fights. Not guys like Tua or Gatti etc... He might have had a weak chin during his prime, but you dont know that...Fact is he didnt need a strong chin. When you look at it, he seemed to work around it with his super high speed, reflexes, high workrate, and just overall ring general ship and skills. After he started to lose those reflexes etc... his chin began to get exposed to fighters and he would get KO'd. I dont think Roy's chin was weak, i just think he was exposed to great(er) punches due to his much decline in superior overall skill and god given gifts.
The reason why people say Roy has no chin is because he gets knocked out almost every time someone lands a really solid punch. Jones got knocked out three times by punches that most fighters take in stride. Pacquiao took some shots from Cotto that Jones wouldn't have been able to take against another light heavyweight. Roy's chin is ridiculous. Tarver landed a right hook in round 11 of their third fight, and was once again on ***** street. Had it not been so late in the fight, Tarver would have finished him off.
