I watched all of Roy's fights growing up, and honestly I thought Roy was starting to slip slightly when Lou Del Vaulle or however you spell it knocked him down, his style of fighting changed and seemed content to outpoint someone to the bell, a peak Jones didnt.
Weight gain/loss has different effects on everyone's body.. What doesn't bother one person can effect another one greatly. The fact is, Roy Jones never looked like the same fighter since the weight loss. Ruling that it has no effect is quite small headed. We have all seen your photo's Rico.
In the second Tarver fight, Roy Jones was looking immense.. Up until he was caught with the left hook...
if anything , he should have stayed at cruiser and still be undersized there. do you think that the jones who beat ruiz would have beaten jirov , gomez or bell ? i don't.
So the day after the Ruiz fight you thought Jones was starting to slip? I actually believe you but I did not think so. I don't know if you were on here at the time but people were talking about Jones unifying some belts and maybe fighting Lennox which was delusional. The only time I saw anyone say he was not Prime was when he got his Glass Jaw shattered.
I saw Jones slipping slightly as far back as 98, nothing major but I felt he wasnt at his absolute peak anymore. As far as thinking Jones could beat Lewis, that is pretty delusional.
He beat Tarver after losing all the weight. And then got KO'd by a good punch in the second fight after having plenty of time to re-adapt to the weight. I've always liked Roy but I think the weight thing is overused.
