That is a tough call. Would be a great fight. I am leaning towards Patterson if it goes to the cards. But, quite honestly, it could be a knockout win for either man. Probably still lean towards Patterson for the KO as well. Wouldn't want to put any money on this one.
I think about this fight and all I can see is one of those Patterson left hooks detonating on Jones' chin and leaving him out. I'll go with Patterson via knock-out in what might be a pretty even fight up until that point.
Bad match-up for Jones, who could possibly beat some more notable heavies. All those matches would be like walking on a tightrope though, and that feat is most difficult here against Patterson who had fast hands, came forward well and possessed great fitness.
I'll take the more battle tested at HW Patterson over the Jones who fought once at HW against an opponent everyone (including Jones) knew he could beat. Patterson would be sending plenty of hard fast shots at Jones and his hand and foot speed would prove troublesome for Roy. Patterson by dec or late round stoppage
Patterson was faster and a more proven puncher. I think he puts a back paddling Jones Jr. to sleep with a Bolo. Roy is just out of his element here. As an encore, Patters knocks Ruiz out cold with a Bolo in the same night.
Patterson was very fast and had more than enough power to KO the glass chinned Jones. It's one thing to play hide and seek with Ruiz then fight Patterson. Patterson stops Jones in the first or second round.
This is interesting because for starters, either could end it at any time presumably... Jones wants to control the distance and pace, and in most cases, has the speed to accomplish it. Patterson has the speed and just as importantly, the balls to initiate and get in the trenches. Floyd is comfortable setting things up with the jab and boxing, and also comfortable up close and tossing bombs. He won't be afraid to engage and close the distance, which is what would be required for success here. Floyd definitley wont stop trying, won't stop engaging until he's in trouble, which could definitely happen. If Roy can nail him with some sharp counters, maybe he can make Floyd a bit gunshy and hesitate enough to turn the control his way... Floyd fought in the trenches with Quarry, Ellis (he beat him in reality), Chuvalo, Bonavena, which is proof he can hang with tough punchers.
