I am sorry, but the word brutal does not come to mind when I think of the Tarver Jones knockout... It was spectacular, not brutal. But going back the the original statement, Roy was not "brutally" knocked out on 3 continents.. The Green stoppage was questionable, and anything but brutal.
A glass jawed fraud that started at 154, playing it safe at LHW and HW... You don't have to be a genius to realize something about that statement just doesn't add up...atsch Not in a sport where naturally larger men throw hundreds of punches at your face for an entire decade.:deal If Roy's jaw was as bad as Rico said it was, he would have constantly been in danger, especially at the higher weights.. But at the same time he likes to go on and on about how Roy played it totally safe.. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Are you forgetting the fact that JMM was most likely on a PED of some sort for that fight? So, if you are going to throw Pacmans name into the mix then don't forget JMM!
How many times was Joe Calzaghe knocked out period? 0. Jones chin wasn't in danger more because he avoided most of the guys who called him out.
Wow, shitting on a 35 year old Roy Jones who was finally ko'd after 16 years as a pro I guess makes some of you happy TODAY! Weird.
Didn't Roy Jones Jr duck Dariusz Michalczewski? Yeah actually he did numerous times so don't talk about ducking.
No, he didn't. Go to the thread titled - Ron Borges blasts Roy Jones. Then go to post 107, on page 8. :good
He was like 17 in 86, of course he would put on weight! He fought at Light Welter in 86 and Junior Middle in 87, and he actually only had to gain 3 kg's to fight in that class which is less than most dehydrate to make weight before a fight, so i don't see the big deal. Furthermore i never heard of anyone getting faster because of PEDS - you just gain more muscles which has the opposite effect, and if that was the case, why are there not more speedsters like him? . you don't suggest that peds isn't commonly used, do you? Fact is Roy was only tested positive after a fight around year 2000 and anything else i just speculation. I think you're overestimating the effects of peds a great deal, i think he would've been world class anyway but probably not above SMW or maybe LHW.
