    Yeah, yeah.

Roy Jones had a glass jaw, and fought at 175.

Ruiz was a 16 stone HW who'd dropped Evander.

Yet he was no threat at all?

I wouldn't say it was amazing. But I don't think anyone expected him to go up and dominate Ruiz like he did. Roy was 34, he'd had 50 fights, he didn't know the extra weight was going to affect him, and Ruiz was 220 pounds. It was a great win, all things considered.

    Ruiz wasn't hand picked.

Which current 168/175 fighter can you see going up and fighting a top 10 HW?

Don't you know that that Jones bulked up a bunch for that fight? Ruiz also was one of the biggest frauds in the history of boxing and only was top 10 due to his connections with Don King. Jones would have gotten smoked by a Real elite HW with power. Ruiz was definitely handpicked, and unfortunately for him his usual cheating tactics weren't allowed that night and he was exposed as a skilless club fighter who without cheating couldn't beat anyone decent.

Do you think it was fear of Park that drove him to PEDs?

The pieces are all starting to fit together....:think

Will you please quit perpetuating this Fraud on here? Jones did NOT do the same thing Fitzsimmons or even Spinks did. When Bob Foster moved up to Heavyweight he fought Joe Frazier who was THE Heavyweight Champion. Spinks fought THE Heavyweight champion who was Larry Holmes. Fitzsimmons fought THE Heavyweight Champion who was James J Corbett.

Jones fought John Ruiz :rofl:patsch NOT Lennox Lewis who was THE Heavyweight Champion. Ruiz was a trinket beltholder  nothing more. Can you imagine Spinks going up and fighting Trevor Berbick instead of Holmes? :rofl:patsch It would have been a joke and that is essentially what Jones did. Took the path of least resistance to get a 'belt' and I use that term loosely. Then after making threats of fighting the other beltholders like Sanders and Lennox he priced himself out ran back to Light Heavyweight and ended up getting savagely KOed. THEN tried to handpick another trinket belt from Glen Johnson and got savagely KOed yet again. See a pattern here?

Like your deceitful posts on the topic Jones was nothing but smoke and mirrors. Quit lying to us about Roy's accomplishments. Just stop.

Of course I know he bulked up. But he didn't know how the extra weight would effect him, and he'd never fought anyone that weighed in over 175.

He wasn't hand picked, because Evander was the original target. Roy met with Evander just prior to his 3rd fight with Ruiz late 2001. If Evander had've won the belt, he and Roy would have fought in 2002. Evander was obviously past his best in 2001, but he wasn't completely shot, and if Ruiz was as garbage as people like to make out, then Evander would have been able to beat him.

After they drew, and Ruiz had the belt, Roy was still offered the fight. But he turned it down, because he didn't think he'd get any credit, and there was no title at stake. So he decided to remain at 175 for a little longer.

Once again, who has accomplished what Roy has in the last ten years? NOBODY!

Which current 168 fighter looks like they're going to go up to HW?

Which current 175 fighter looks like they're going to go up to HW?

If it was that easy, more people would attempt it.

    Give the guy some credit!

Find someone else who achieved the things that Roy achieved aside from Fitzsimmons.
    Thank you.

Ruiz had iron-jawed Holyfield badly hurt as well as putting him down.

You should be doing stand up you clown!

Nobody has said he accomplished what Spinks etc did.

But he wanted Evander first, and that shows you that he didn't pick Ruiz out and cherry pick him as the weakest guy.

He deserves respect for what he did. Lets see how many more 34 year old, 175 fighters, go up to HW after 50 fights?

Spinks was a lot younger with nearly 20 less fights.

I told you last week to google - the freelibrary.com

There's 4/5 articles with regards to Roy and Lewis.

He didn't run back to 175.

He kept his Ruiz physique and was still heavy in the summer of 2003, with Murad Muhammad trying to make the Tyson fight.

While Murad tried to make the fight, Tarver was baiting him on tv and radio at every given opportunity.

When the fights at HW couldn't get made, he gave into Tarver and had a rush to take the weight off. :good

If you actually believe that Jones was going to fight Buster Douglas, Holyfield, Tyson or Lewis I have some prime beachfront property in Patooka Kansas I would like to sell you. The ONLY reason he moved up to Heavyweight is because Ruiz 'beat' Holyfield. Had Holy won Jones wasn't going to fight him or anyone else. Jones M.O. was to 'act' like he wanted to fight someone then make ridiculous demands and price himself out. Again, I ask you to stop perpetuating lies on here about Jones it is pitiful. He wasn't the Heavyweight Champion. Period.

    He did.

But then Roy gets in the ring with him, and Ruiz is suddenly turned into a feather fisted sloth, who was garbage, and an easy win.

Lets see Ward, Froch, Kessler and Clev etc go up.

Patooka? Sounds great, I'll pm you.

Well of course, you know more about what happened in 2001 than Roy and Evander. How silly of me.

Was Ruiz good enough to win a version of the HW title? Yes.

Did he weigh 220 pounds? Yes.

Has Evander got a great chin? Yes.

Did Ruiz knock him down? Yes.

Did Roy move up from 175, at 34, after nearly 50 fights? Yes.

Does he have a disgraceful GLASS JAW? According to you, WITHOUT A DOUBT.

So if you add everything up from above, you're going to tell me that Ruiz was EASY, and Roy's disgraceful GLASS JAW wasn't under threat???

You my good sir, are a CLOWN! :good

Being as how i feel a good majority of his opponents were on some sort of PED... Roy would have been great no matter what. Atberry is an opinionated old foolish coot, and shouldn't be taken serious. Roy Jones a WW? get out of here moron.
