Ray Leonard is overrated. He was nothing at SMW. RJJ wouldv'e destroyed him. He didn't have the talent and or the skills to have a long sustained title run in his 4th weight class like Mayweather.

Elaborate on the talent and skills you are proposing Leonard lacked then so we can all discuss whether we agree or not.

A fact is something that has really occurred or is actually the case. The usual test for a statement of fact is verifiability, that is, whether it can be demonstrated to correspond to experience. Standard reference works are often used to check facts. Scientific facts are verified by repeatable careful observation or measurement (by experiments or other means). From wiki

Leonard Lacked the talent and skills to have a sustained title run in his older age at a higher weight class. Floyd is an old man and has been champion in his 4th and 5th weight classes for all of his 30's. Sugar Ray got KTFO at age 35 in only his second weight class by Terry Norris.

Leonard is rated higher becasue of emotional reasons not based on objective standards. Floyd has more career KO's and stayed on top for much longer. My whoile point is showing the logical fallacy of people who want to compare SRL and Mayweather head to head in the ring. A comparable fight would be SRL vs RJJ at super middle.

Leonard is rated higher because he has a better resume. He beat Hearns, Duran, and Benitez.

Thurman and Brook wouldn't even be top 10 contenders in the Fab Four era, or the 90's WW era.

    This forum is embarrassing.

Obviously, Jones would thrash Leonard at 168. But that post is just embarrassing.

Yeah, its just gotten worse and worse.

I think newbies should be given boxing IQ tests prior to being allowed to post here.

But what specific ''talent and skills' does he lack that's what I was asking for clarity on, we need to know what you see in Leonard that is deficient, what do you think declined? What specific fights are you using to express your opinion that he had no longevity? Why do you bring up Mayweather if your beef is with him and Jones Jr?

I don't believe that Ray is overrated. Ray is one of the greatest of all time in my opinion. And he had no business at the higher weights like SMW.

Of course Roy in his peak at SMW would have been a clear favourite, but it would have been meaningless. I could list a number of guys who'd be favoured over Ray at SMW.

It's also unfair to try and do direct comparisons with fighters who fought at different weights in different eras. Floyd is also an ATG, and you really have to admire and respect his longevity. At Floyd's current age, both Ray and Roy were no longer top level fighters.

Although Ray didn't have Floyd's great longevity, he most certainly had the talent that Floyd has, and his resume and his achievements put him higher in the rankings in my honest opinion.
