Just watched Roy Jones vs. Ruiz for the first time in a couple years, what a masterful performance...... The biggest thing for me is Roy was not in his prime when he put on that great performance, and he looked tiny compared to Ruiz. Roy got hit a few times flush, and acted as if he was touched by a LHW....... What a great fighter, ATG showing of how RJJ really can overcome size odds.:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy
Thats my favorite fight of Roy Jones, amazing what he did... If he had a glass jaw it would have craked in that fight when he was hit hard by a Heavyweight,:yep
Ali lost to Trevor Berbick and Leon Spinks. Ray Robinson lost to Mick Leahy and Memo Ayon. None of those defeats can take away the memories of their legends. I will always remember Roy as the genius that he is, not what he is today.
In 10 years, I think we will anyway... Roy's post prime fights with Tarver and Johnson dont mean anything compared to what Roy was...... He was a ghost of himself in those fights. What we can remember of Roy Jones, is that he was one of the best H2H fighters ever and a great in the fact that he showed boxing laws that they were not relevant. People say he wasn't good defensivly, but what other fighter went a round without being hit????
thats what i find soo sad :verysad but i still know Jones is one of the greatest and most talented i ever seen :good
I doubt anyone will ever be as good as a prime Jones, not gonna happen..... He was great but I honestly dont think anyone will show us that kind of talent.
No one will say they dont count, they're on his record and always will be. Casamayor and Hopkins however, didn't use freakish speed and reflexes as part of thier arsenal for most of thier careers. Bad examples.
