who ever said he wasnt good defensivley are talking utter bollocks.
he took some abuse when he was badly knocked out by Tarver then Johnson but up until then he was a boxer who took very limited punshiment.
the Ruiz performance was masterful - he got nailed in the first round and fired back and in the fourth round he nailed Ruiz and made his legs buckle and he broke Ruiz nose - people who say Calzaghe was the best super middleweight ever I say Roy Jones - I say Calzaghe would not even think about going to fight for a heavyweight title. Prime Jones V Prime Calzaghe at Super middleweight = Prime Jones Victory.

of course they count cos they on his record they part of his legacy - no-one can re-write history. It happened - he got knocked out a couple of times - he human after all.

But dont read too much into o this guy was this age when he was doing this and that guy was this age when he was doing that.

Everybodys different - Hopkins matured with age and got better so did
    Lennox Lewis.

Mike Tyson was at his prime as a 20-23 year old young man.
By the time he was 30 yrs old - he never wan another World title fight.

When Roy Jones lost them fights he was past his best - even if at 40+ Hopkins was better than ever - Roy Jones is a different human being to Hopkins. Jones prime was about 25-34 years old - during them years he dominated - he was great.

So you are saying that because Casamayor and Hopkins fought more effectively than Roy in the later part of thier career, that they are better fighters?

Roy was an awesome fighter in his day, and is still pretty good. That's pretty impressive for being able to take hard shots from a true heavyweight and still hold your ground.

the difference between robinson/ali to jones?

    ready for it?

Ali and robinson didnt have the internet full of forums harping on how "Big of glass jaws" they had after their losses... Jones did.

When I talk to my "Non boxing fan" friends about roy jones, all they say is "MAN That guy was amazing"....NEVER do they say "what a glass jaw". Its only the assholes trolling forums around here who harp on jones for his "GLASS JAW" instead of looking at his raw tallent........sorry trolls, had to be said

Hell .... Ruiz was a great puncher and he even put Fres Quendo to the canvas after a great performance. It was a shame Nady didin't allow Ruiz to use his masterpiece weapon and break action every time Jones was in the range of Ruiz powerfull left hook.

RJJ is an ATG, but his win over Ruiz is overrated. Don't get me wrong, it's always a great feat for a former MW to go up to HW and beat a top10 fighter there, but honestly - Ruiz was awful, he (rightfully) wasn't allowed to use his dirty style and he can't box for **** - no wonder he got schooled.
RJJ has MUCH bigger wins: James Toney, Mike McCallum, B-HOP, Virgil Hill, Montell Griffin - and he looked better in these fights.
