Duran/Ali/Leonard were not rated the highest they ever were going into those fights, or anywhere remotely close.

Roy was, going into his first fight with Tarver.

I just don't understand why people insist on defending Roy's losses to Tarver by making comparisons that they know to be untrue.

My point was, they were past their best, for whatever reason(s), at the time of these losses.

    Roy was too.

He was clearly weight-drained and had begun to fall off by their first fight. Though not weight-drained in the rematch, he was clearly past his best, and shot from that point forward. He had really begun to decline a bit earlier than the Ruiz fight IMO, but that just quickened the pace of his fall.

You criticize Jones for never fighting Benn and Collins.

If that is valid, then so is Trinidad being criticized for not fighting Mosley or Quartey.

    Simple yet undeniable.

You know what TFFP, I considered this for quite a while last night. I think I am ready to admit I was wrong here. Jones's resume probably does have the edge over Hopkins's. I don't think it's a no-brainer at all, but I think I was wrong in saying Jones's is inferior. Hopkins's is still clearly better than Calzaghe's or Mosley's though, clearly.

NO WAY NO HOW is Jones's resume better than Toney's. Not in a million years.
