He could have become a legend...by beating a legend.

    That's apparently how it goes

I agree. Luckily for Jones, Huck losing probably ruins any chance of him getting that fight. Still there's always the risk of another top contender picking him up as an easy named scalp, or a top champ facing him as a voluntary.

    ...is Charles Ellis a legend?

It would have been hilarious if Watkins did win. He and Ellis would have to appear on some boxing podcast together chatting about how they dethroned two of the 1990's three American MW legends within a week of each other.

    I could, but I won't. I don't really hate Roy.

I'm not kidding when I say this, Kudryashov might KILL Roy if they were to fight. If that fight were to happen I literally wouldn't watch. With Usyk it would be bad but I don't think Roy's life would be at risk, he might even get saved by the ref as Usyk isn't the hardest of punchers.

Let me just take a moment and say props to Watkins for the way he fought. Jones tried all kinds of head games and was pretty disrespectful to him and Watkins just kept his cool and went about his business...and had started to gain some real traction in the 4th, 5th, and most of the 6th.

Just a shame he didn't stay more alert. Rookie jitters, maybe, or Jones finally got under his skin with all the showboating antics (or, more likely, the pretending he was a sitting duck)

I love Roy, I'd hate to see that, but at this point Mwekassa and Durandola KO him as well. So any of the top guys against Roy:-(

I think even 5-6 years ago Mwekassa could have been a really bad fight for Roy. That guy is one of the most devastating punchers in the division, even if he isn't world class.

Whoever said Jones was top 15ish or 20ish earlier - nah. BoxRec on their points system place him at #43 and even that I think may be too high, as I'm scanning the names below him and several jump out at me that I think would knock him out at this point.

MAAAYBE in another division but CW top 20 is freaking ludicrous.

(Not saying that it's the best division or anything like that but it's got ridiculous depth)

Where does that notion come from that he's not a hard puncher, personally I think he was on he verge of stopping Medzhidov in their WSB match and he's 7-0 7 KO's Usyk just takes his time like Martinez did, Sergio could have most likely gotten the KO's against Barker and Macklin far earlier but he took his time and slowly ripped them apart.... if Usyk really wanted to hurt his opponents and get them out of there early he could.
