    No worries.

The McClellan-Benn fight had a profound effect on him. He was far more cautious. I do think he fought everyone he could at LHW except one guy. But I also think he knew there were some big challenges just below or above that he felt were not worth the risk that would have enhanced his legacy. Prior to Benn-McClellan, I think he would have taken those fights no hesitation. But it's all speculation now.

Being from Pensacola, Jones is my favorite fighter. Perhaps the one fighter I hold a bias for.

Well, he was arranging to fight G-Man after Benn at a time where G-Man was proposed as his hardest challenge.

It's hard for me to criticise a guy who beat so many champs and former champs in his career and did the unthinkable by being the HW champ.

I've got nothing but love for Jones Jr and I've always wanted to see him go out as a P4P champ, not as a guy that everyone considered past his used by date.

The fight against Calzaghe gives him that opportunity.

Jones would surprise me if he beat Calzaghe at this stage. Just because I don't think he could take the workrate. But he has surprised me before.

Ice John Scully posts here from time to time. He was once asked about the McClellan-Jones fight and said that Jones would have outboxed him. Considering his relationship with the fighters I take his opinion seriously. I do think that McClellan could stop anyone if he caught them, but I tend to think Jones would have won the fight.

I'm a fan of Calzaghe and have been ever since the first time I saw him on the Tyson undercard.

I think against anyone else in the division, Calzaghe outboxes, outlasts and outskills anyone.

But with Jones Jr. I think Calzaghe can't do enough damage due to Jones Jr's evasion and defense to put Jones Jr away, unlike say a Johnson or Tarver who could put Jones Jr away with the one shot, I don't think Calzaghe has it in him anymore.

So it gives Jones Jr twelve rounds to use his own style, speed and adaptability in there.

I think it's the hardest fight for Calzaghe, not because I think Jones Jr is still the great fighter he always was, but more so because styles make fights and that's the one style other than Hopkins that I've always thought would trouble Calzaghe's unique style.

I would agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that I am not sure that Jones has the legs he once did. If he could effectively move and shoot that right hand, I could see him beating Calzaghe.

I am not convinced his legs are back to normal or that they can be.

Prime for prime, I think Jones style is all wrong for Calzaghe and negates nearly every attribute that has made Calzaghe so dominating.

Amazingly enough, I believe Calzaghe USED to have very good power. Before the hand problems. His adaptation of his style to his hand trouble proves he is versatile.

Calzaghe still has very good power, an underrated feature of his game but I don't know if he has enough power to get Jones Jr in the type of trouble he got himself in against Tarver and Johnson.

I think the major thing to remember is that Calzaghe himself is 36!!! So whether or not Jones Jr is the 35 yr old dominant fighter he was not so long ago doesn't matter so much..

Where Calzaghe can out hustle and beat other guys like the Pavliks, Dawsons and co, can he do that to a guy like Jones Jr?

I expect the fight to be a great one and think it's more likely than the Pavlik fight to happen.

It's not one I'm going to make a decisive pick on either way because I can see paths to victory for both fighters, it's a fight that as a boxing fan, rather than a guy who bets on boxing, I want to see.

    Y'all musta forgot!

but seriously after a certain age training injuries become the norm rather than the exception and they start to show effects on the fighter even after they are healed. I hope this is not the case with Roy.
