Pretty much sums up my thoughts on this season. If Nelson is considered the favorite, jesus these other guys must suck hard.
Hes fat, but hes a good fighter. Top 15-20 HW in MMA with a very solid skillset in grappling. Hes faced top MMA'ers in grappling comps such as Mir and Monson and beat them both. Lesnar's baby hammerfists on Couture were no more powerful than that of Nelsons against Kimbo. Nelson has already gone places in the sport. Hes fought some very good HW's and been robbed of a few decisions.
And I dont see how anybody is upset at Roy. I highly doubt he would lie about something like this and if this is legit this just knocks Dana down another peg. I mean did you guys honestly think Kimbo would show up here for FREE? Dana is not stupid, he may not have alot of integrity, and he certainly may not care about the legitimacy of the sport but the UFC is making money and this is the reason why.
atsch Right. The guy is simple. Even before the fight he was talking about how you can "count out" the punches to the ref no matter how weak they are and he's forced to stop the fight. Those punches were weak and he was trying to prove a point. Lesnar was trying to kill a person. Big difference there buddy. You argue for the sake of arguing. I'll tell you what though, he is the talent I'd like to see more of in TUF. You're right, he has gone places and even fought in UFC already.
Give me a break. Lesnars GnP on Couture looked like a big kid on prozac. It looked like he was throwing a temper tantrum. It was embarassing. This is not an argument. Its just a fact. You made fun of Nelson but the guy is actually a proven fighter, the only one on the show and he beat Kimbo fair and square and the stoppage was absolutely legit.
This fight would have gone down totally differently if it were a main even of a PPV than if it were the first of four fights in the tournament. Nelson was thinking more about winning in a dominating and humiliating (rather than devastating) fashion and to White's ire (and Nelson's benefit) without getting hurt. I certainly wish he'd have been more emphatic, but for christasake does anyone honestly think that it's because he COULDN'T have been more emphatic? I'm sure that drives White and Spike nuts, but it's 100% true.
Also, who gives a **** what the guy looks like? If you care so much that everything looks nice and comicbooky then gay ass pro wrestling is for you. The fact that Nelson is 100% skill and 0% style is ****ing great, and if he beats everyone in the UFC then he deserves it just as much as anyone else. The disgrace would be if he was as effective as anyone (winning is the whole point of SPORTS you know, as opposed to "sports entertainment") and wasn't allowed the same chance as everyone else because he didn't look like the he-man dolls that fans who never grew up still want to play with.
Made fun? No, I think he's a great fighter who's never going to be on top. I think he is perfect for TUF and I think it would be great to have more fighters like him on TUF. Stoppage was legit by rules. But if you got someone pinned down and their safety is not in question they shouldn't stop it. Coutures fight was let go for a while, Lesnar is twice the size of Nelson(if he was 10%bf he'd be a middleweight), and Couture was actually dazed and confused after that Lesnar tantrum. Believe me, I hate Lesnar at least as much as the next guy but if I was to survive either one of those situations I would stay in Kimbo's position for 2-3 minutes without exagerating. In Lesnar's situation not so much. P.S. If Kimbo was any good on the ground he could've escaped easily as well.
Roy is just being set up as "the bad guy" and Kimbo "the good guy" Probably because Roy and Dana don't get along, probably because Roy is a "confident" guy who isn't particularly casual fan friendly. Outside of milking him for Money, the point with Kimbo is basically to use him to show how much better MMA fighters are than street fighters. He will get fights that he will get embarrassed in until people finally lose interest.
Works two fold. Dana is guilty of the same things he was talking all the **** about, about using the toughest guy at the barbeque as a draw.. What happened though, Kimbo ended up having more class than Dana. Kimbo, may have gotten nothing to show up to Tugh, but you bet he got paid for the commercials, all the talk about his fight with farmer john, or whatever beign the biggest fight in tuf history.. At the same time, if it really was as bad as people say, wouldn't Kimbo have won? I mean, wouldn't the fight have been fixed?
This content is protected This content is protected Exactly what ****ing planet do you live on? The last few elbows were not that damaging, but for about 10 seconds it was some of the most damaging GnP in the sport; not to mention he was dropped with a enormous right hand before it. Couture couldn't even stand up on his own properly for several minutes. He was hurt and hurt very seriously. http://you.video.sina.com.cn/b/17300060-1265539201.html
i think roy just earned himself a ufc contract cause so many hate him for beating kimbo he just arouses interest like that.
I agree with you, I just saw the fight and Kimbo was tooling him striking..for a so called former IFL champ. He had a hard time taking kimbo to the ground initially and couldnt do **** til Kimbo gassed. He has a big mouth as well. He's a ****in BUM!!...The man had nothing in there..ZERO. For TUF to advertise him as the best HW they have, this show's a disgrace.
correct me if Im wrong, is this the fat tub of lard who just fought Kimbo and was getting owned standing and couldnt apply a proper armlock? Skill? what skill?
Owned standing? It was one punch man. He said his plan was to get the crucifix and finish with punches. Maybe that's just after the fact, but if you listen to some of the stuff he says before the fight, and the way he constantly is looking for the crucifix when he could have possibly done something else, it makes sense. He went in, took a low risk strategy, and won in the easiest way possible. It was grappling 101. If you have a guy in a crucifix and he isn't going to get up, there is no reason to not just get the finish with a TKO; especially if he really did "call his shot" so to speak.
