More to the point how overrated Mir is. Guys supposed to be a submissions wizard but everyone who gets in his guard puts his head through the canvas.
That's like, WAY untrue. Just watch some of his fights. Mir's guard is dangerous, he has quite a few sub wins from the guard.
Grappling tournaments don't allow its participants to strike. That video makes me think that Nelon could be in trouble if he were to go to the ground with Mir in a MMA bout.
Thing is, most of his subs come from opponents making careless mistakes. If you don't respect Mir's potential, he will sub you. On Nelson.. You see how easily Mir was throwing him off early on in the fight? If anyone wonders why he put on all the weight, I think Mir answers the question... I'll say it... He uses it so its more difficult for his opponents to just buck, or throw him off like Mir did.. Mir is strong, but he's not really known for freaky strength.

That's a lot of careless mistakes by his opponents that didn't get subbed by OTHER fighters from their back due to careless mistakes. I think some people think avoiding submissions is easy as long as you aren't fighting BJ Penn or Maia and as long as you don't "make mistakes". Frank Mir wins fights and he wins fights by submission. You don't make it as far as he has without it being talent. It's such an insult to the guy to say that "all of your opponents just made mistakes". It seems also that the "making mistakes" excuse comes so much more often with submissions than KOs.
No no no, don't you understand? When Mir does something good it is always because his opponent did something bad, as opposed to every other fighter in the world who always has to fight pefect opponents. Don't you know? Every fight in the history of the world has been error free, except those involving Mir.
